Did "Interstellar" come out to late for it to count on this years Awards? Because if not, WTF? That is one of the best movies I have ever seen.

It's sci fi, it was never going to get any award recognition.

The only movie I'm surprised about being nominated for best picture is American Sniper. I heard it was really not that great and was like, sort of propaganda.

Surprised to see Bradley Cooper nominated, especially when Jake Gyllenhall gave such a brilliant turn in Nightcrawler. Also how the fucking fuck did The Lego Movie not get a nod in the animated section?!

I'm glad Birdman has gotten so many nominations. It's the only movie I have seen so far out of all that have been nominated but everyone in it was brilliant. I'd like to think that Keaton will take the Best Actor gong. It sucks that Jake Gyllenhall got snubbed. I have always liked him and I heard he was amazing in Nightcrawler.

Birdman and Boyhood both deserve their numerous nominations. Great movies, and both very unique too, which is something I think should be awarded more in these shows. In comparison, films like The Theory of Everything and The Imitation Game sound quite pedestrian.

It sucks that Gyllenhaal got snubbed, though I had a feeling he would. He was excellent in Nightcrawler. He really made the film what it was. I figured he should have got in ahead of Cooper at least. But then I think he was nominated for his weird performance in American Hustle too, so maybe the Academy just likes the guy a little too much.

On the flip side of that, I find it funny that Meryl Streep gets nominated just for being in a movie. I know she's brilliant, but if that had been any other actress in Into the Woods, there's no way that role would have been up for an Oscar, regardless of how good the performance was.

It sucks that The Lego Movie didn't get nominated. I would have expected it to get a look in over The Box Trolls at least. But it looks like this was just a strong year for animation, so I guess something was always going to get left out. It's not like the rest of the lineup looks really weak or anything.

Regarding the Meryl Streep thing. It really does seem like she automatically gets nominated, no matter what she is in. No denying she is a great actress but not everything she does can be that good.
