I was asleep in Australia, but when I woke up, it was all over the news. I was 16 at the time and I'm pretty sure mum let me skip school for the day to keep up to date on it.

How exactly are people racist towards Muslims?

Yes I remember when time stopped in our whole nation.

I was in 2nd grade & that morning I went into class expecting everything to be alright. However, when I got to school the teachers were all silent, most of the halls were empty & the ambiance wasn't at all the same. I can't exactly remember if the teachers ever did tell us what really happened but I do know that it was a dark day.

After school I was put into a better mod. For those of you who don't know, September 10th is my birthday. That year we hadn't celebrated my birthday on the 10th because it was a Monday & my parents wanted to wait till the weekend. I pushed & pushed to have my birthday celebrate so my parents promised me that the day after (September 11th) we'd go to Chuck E. Cheese.

I got home ready to go & have fun at my favorite location just to see my parents glued to the tv. I was confused. My mother was the one who told my sister & I that a group of bad people attacked multiple important buildings in New York & in Virginia.

I saw the footage of the 2nd plane hit & was frozen. I had never seen horror like that. I didn't know how to feel or how to react considering. I was scared. I never wanted to fly in a plane again & I'm still not the biggest fan of flying. Looking back on the event, it was something that my young mind didn't know existed. I wasn't aware of such people in this world who did such things. I will never forget that feeling...

Not quite. 9/11 is really weird for me because my memory of it is a complete fabrication and never happened. The memory I have is being in sixth grade English class, which was my second class of the morning. I remember sitting there watching the news as the towers hit with the rest of my classmates and my teacher explaining everything that was going on. Except the scenario is impossible because I was 10 when 9/11 happened, so I was in fifth grade. So I have no idea where I really was on 9/11. Creeps me out if I think about it for too long.

I saw it when I came home from school - it was my first week at a new school too, so it was especially surreal.

I know. I figured that's what he was getting at. What I meant was if that you see a lot of racism against people from that part of the world. No matter where they are from or what their religion actually is, to some people, if they are brown, then that means they are Muslim and that means they are terrorists. I see it often, especially online.

I was in Grade 10 Math class, it was right near the start of the new school year too. I remember the principal of the school making an announcement over the PA saying there had been a terrorist attack in New York. I actually vaguely remember seeing the beginnings of it on the TV as I was walking out the door to catch my bus but just a glimpse and didn't understand the gravity.

Went to the library where the TV's were during break and the place was packed, you could barely move to we just left. I really didn't get a full knowledge of what had went on with video until I got home later. There were a ton a dumb rumours though throughout the day. Stuff like there were dozens of planes still circling looking to hit stuff, stuff like planes full of soldiers were landing and killing people, just crazy stuff that snowballed.

It's crazy to me to think that anyone under the age of probably 18 or 19 likely has very little recollection of that day and how huge it was. All they know is from TV shows and stuff like that.

Everyone is racist to Jews too, but Jews aren't a race either (this is really just arguing semantics). Muslims definitely have it bad though. Unlike jews they have more distinguishing features from their "general origins" and even those "features" people peg them to have, other races/religions get caught up in it. This is part of the fight amongst ourselves I mentioned earlier.

I was talking to one of my teachers in his office when his wife called and told him about the news. I didn't realize how bad it was until I saw it on tv.

I was in 4th grade. Came home and heard the news. I was young but I understood completely what was going on.
