He's in an awkward spot in terms of fame/popularity right now, where there's likely a large dissonance between what he thinks he's worth and what he's actually worth. And a large dissonance between what he's asking for and what TNA would be willing to pay for him.
I reckon he might be ready to cut his ties with American wrestling entirely for the time being and go back to CMLL. That is if he even stays in the business. I saw an interview with him a while back saying that he was planning to retire in the next couple of years anyway.

These things are never a work, guys. Anything that starts online rather than on television, you can be pretty damn sure it's real. Spreading a story like this doesn't attract any new viewers to Raw. All it does is give WWE and one of their stars a bit of negative publicity.
Why invent a story like this one anyway? Why have the attack be on someone who isn't an on-air personality? Doesn't that make it less interesting to the Raw audience? Doesn't it make it a lot more difficult to create an angle out of it on television down the road?
It's not a work. There's no reason that they would want to fabricate a story such as this one and they don't stand to benefit from it in any way. It's just a random thing that happened and they're now dealing with it.
