Del Rio fired for altercation

Talk about what's going on in the WWE in this forum!

Sounds like a mid 2013 Ryback segment.

At least if he goes to TNA Alberto has a nice push to look forward to. That means he gets to follow TNA's Ex-WWE Guy 5 Step Process.

1.) Debut as a face while Tenay and Tazz pretend he's the biggest thing to ever happen to TNA.
2.) Win the World Title
3.) Turn heel
4.) Form dominant heel faction
5.) Disappear down the card a few months later

I'm not sure anyone can take it to the bank that he was reacting to a racist comment. If someone is trying to save face after being canned, saying there was a racist comment is an easy way to try and pull public opinion back into your favour.

I'm assuming WWE wouldn't have fired him right away if he told them it was a racist comment without investigating the allegation. They must be pretty sure he was completely out of line.

I really can't see him going to TNA. He's in an awkward spot in terms of fame/popularity right now, where there's likely a large dissonance between what he thinks he's worth and what he's actually worth. And a large dissonance between what he's asking for and what TNA would be willing to pay for him.

I reckon he might be ready to cut his ties with American wrestling entirely for the time being and go back to CMLL. That is if he even stays in the business. I saw an interview with him a while back saying that he was planning to retire in the next couple of years anyway.

Well TNA might want him, they've gone after worse ex WWE'ers in the past. I'm not sure he would want TNA though, especially with the rumours of them losing their TV deal. He'd have to think long and hard about taking that risk. I read Del Rio moved to Texas recently, so he's not far away for Mexico, where I have to believe he'll be a bigger star and probably have more job security.

Whatever he did WWE sure isn't pulling any punches or tapdancing around it. Even their Twitter is taking shots at him.

Triple H retweeted these too :lol

If I didn't know any better I'd say this almost looks like a work :P

It absolutely feels like a work now they've tweeted that and HHH retweeted it. They never usually acknowledge firings on social media.

I'd hope that it's a work because that's pretty unprofessional on WWE's part to acknowledge the drama publicly. Or maybe Del Rio was a super prick. Idk . If the social media guy made the racist comment and didn't apologize, I don't blame Del Rio for slapping him. But it's still assault, even if it was warranted.

The fact they've been messaged on Twitter says that it's a work or that the incident was so strong, that they felt the need to comment to rebutt what Del Rio might say as his version of events. No great loss though.

The 90 Day no compete clause is only for cards that will be televised/PPV/iPPV or will be a DVD/Blu-ray(I believe). He can work independent promotions if he wants and still bring in a good paycheck while also collecting pay for the 90 days.

They fired Alberto Del Rio, then in 6 months a new star will debut. Dos Caras! Tag team partner to Sin Cara! I can see it now.

I'm going to ask the same thing that I always say when people start claiming that something is a work: What does WWE stand to gain here?

These things are never a work, guys. Anything that starts online rather than on television, you can be pretty damn sure it's real. Spreading a story like this doesn't attract any new viewers to Raw. All it does is give WWE and one of their stars a bit of negative publicity.

Why invent a story like this one anyway? Why have the attack be on someone who isn't an on-air personality? Doesn't that make it less interesting to the Raw audience? Doesn't it make it a lot more difficult to create an angle out of it on television down the road?

It's not a work. There's no reason that they would want to fabricate a story such as this one and they don't stand to benefit from it in any way. It's just a random thing that happened and they're now dealing with it.

What do you make of their tweets directed to ADR which is unprecedented in terms of a Superstar firing and WWE commetning so strongly towards him? Probably not a work but those WWE tweets are a new thing for them to do.

I would say it's a work because they didn't wish him well in his future endeavors and didn't call him by his actual name, they just said Alberto Del Rio.

Unless he did something highly unprofessional and they hate the guy, something just seems off.

They call a lot of guys by their ring name. Did it for Curt Hawkins I think. And they probably didn't wish him well because they fired him for unprofessional conduct rather than merely releasing him.

There is no reason for it to be a work. They haven't cared about what they do with Del Rio since last year and there is nothing accomplished by doing it.

They don't need it to be a work. The only thing I could think of about this being a work is that ADR comes back with some sort of douchebag, bully heel gimmick who beats up all the production crew members. But they could have done that without "releasing" him.

It doesn't really matter anyway, ADR doesn't move the needle for WWE, they've pushed him strong since his debut and he's never really been able to get over with the audience.

They never wished Joey Mercury well on his future endeavours either, and it was for the same reason. He was allegedly dismissed for physically attacking somebody. They probably don't feel the need to wish the person well when they were dismissed for doing something so clearly objectionable.

And I don't know what tweets you guys read, but those weren't exactly unprofessional personal attacks. They weren't phrased in an inflammatory manner, it was just a way of getting the company's point of view out there.

These things never end up being a work. This won't be one, just like CM Punk's leaving wasn't one. The next big online report won't be one either. There's no reason to fabricate a story unless it sells tickets without damaging the company's brand. This story does the exact opposite. Which is why I'm so sure that this is real.
