No this is totally separate from the RDJ movies. So I'm not sure if there'll be flashbacks or who would play a potential younger Holmes.

I'd choose Mark Ruffalo.

But Fassbender played young Magneto while McKellen played old Magneto. Why not continue it with Sherlock Holmes.

Hopefully if they're doing this, they won't be using flashbacks. It's already a bit of a gimmicky concept (though one that I am interested in), so it'd be better if they kept the story simple and stick to the one time period.

I love McKellan and he should be able to knock a role like this out of the park. It's an interesting idea for a film, putting this kind of spin on an iconic character. I hope it turns out well.
