Viggo Mortensen voices displeasure over The Hobbit movies

Basically, Viggo says that ever since The Two Towers, Peter Jackson has relied way too heavily on CGI, ESPECIALLY in the Hobbit movies. Hard to disagree with him there; the biggest reason the Hobbit movies have been so bad is the ridiculous overuse of CGI (of course, stretching thin the plot over three movies is also a huge factor).

Peter Jackson was better when he was making low budget horror movies. Bad Taste is still my favorite of his films. Hard to disagree with Mortensen, as he is 100% correct in his criticisms.

I certainly wouldn't argue against Heavenly Creatures being one of his best - it's a great flick. I can't really give much of an opinion on anything he's done post-LOTR, because I was never bothered seeing any of them. I would've certainly been more likely to see something that seemed to have a compelling emotional core and a strong cast, however.

All I can say is I was a huge fan of the LOTR movies but I hate what Jackson is doing to the hobbit. There is no reason for a book that size to be dragged into three movies

I agree, but the Lord of the Rings films are far and beyond low budget horror movies.
