Official NBA off-season thread/Free Agency

You know the drill.

Houston clearing cap space, also a great move for NO, it puts AD back at the 4, he's about to be a problem this year. Great look for them.

I like the Asik trade. Lots of people talking about how this means the Rockets are trying to clear up space for LeBron, but I don't see it. I think it's just a smart basketball move.

Rockets definitely did it to help clear cap space, plus Asik had been disgruntled in Houston since Howard came into town. It's a GREAT move for the Pelicans because, it slides Anthony Davis back to the 4, which is his natural position. AD is about to have a stupidly good year, bank on that my dude!

Just dropping that knowledge for those of you who didn't know, now you know. Image

Of note for the Asik trade, it will not be made official until July. The reason being that the Pelicans have to work out a way to clear the salary of Asik, likely with a trade of Austin Rivers or Eric Gordon. I'm hearing speculation of Austin Rivers to the Clippers, which would be fun to see if for no other reason than Dad coaching Son.

Not to mention he's been a big let down, considering. I guess. Eric Gordon would be better on another squad, I remember when people said he was the next best SG coming into the game, funny what a few years will change.

Don't need him with Evans there.

Last one would be big, Kobe is a big Rondo fan. Could attract Love even more or someone else big for them. Would be bad news.

Aaron Afflalo to Denver for Evan Fournier and the 56th Pick,

Afflalo was nearly an all-star last season...I can't help but think Denver win this trade by a mile. Even if Orlando clear cap space, can they really lure a big free agent?

Wow!!! IF true. Bosh would go, Melo could come......

Not going to happen though, would be insane. Especially since they just got Napier.

Woah, that would be great for Miami, Lowry was incredible last season...the only thing is though, it's very hard for me to see Melo going to the Heat. I think that Houston, Chicago or possibly even Dallas are more realistic destinations if he is going to leave New York.

Not coming to Dallas, he apparently didn't want to play with Chandler or Felton. Houston and Chicago yeah, they'd be wonderful fits. Except for Harden and Melo....

Wasn't the rumour potentially that Harden would go to New York and Melo would go to the Rockets in a sign and trade?

One of the original rumors yes.

That's big, gives them the most cap space in the NBA...Interesting what's about to happen, Miami not even going to take a year off...insane.

That Lowry to Heat rumour by Bucher was total horseshit. Bucher himself had to come out and admit that he got duped by a "source" and there was nothing to it. He's a hack.

Miami is going to have a completely different look next year. Has there ever been a team like this to lose their three best players at once?

Opting out gave them more cap space to operate. It'd basically allow them to re-sign the big 3 at a pay cut and another FA. I'd try to ditch Wade though personally, even move Bosh if you had to keep Wade. Miami's bench is what murdered them in the Finals, as well as having nobody outside LBJ step up.

The Orlando Magic have waived Jameer Nelson and Doron Lamb.

The Magic will save $6 million by releasing Nelson due to the non-guarateed part of his deal.

The Magic faced an important deadline on Lamb.

Lamb’s salary of $915,243 for the 2014-15 season would've become fully guaranteed if he wasn't waived before Wednesday.

----------------------------------------------------

The Brooklyn Nets are projected to have a loss of $144 million for the 13-14 season, according to a confidential memo the NBA sent to all 30 teams in early June.

The NBA expects nine teams will end up having lost money once luxury-tax distribution and revenue-sharing payments are finalized.

The Washington Wizards are second in projected loss of about $13 million.

The Nets' loss is only from basketball activities and does not include benefits from their ownership stake in Barclays Center.

------------------------------------------------

The Toronto Raptors have acquired Lou Williams and Bebe Nogueira from the Atlanta Hawks for John Salmons.

Salmons' contract is non-guaranteed to the Hawks will play only $1 million of his $7 million salary, creating $4.5 million in cap space.

The Raptors didn't have a first round pick in 2013 due to the Kyle Lowry trade, so Nogueria effectively becomes that player.

Williams is owed $4.5 million in 14-15 and is a versatile scoring option in the backcourt.

--------------------------------------------------

LeBron James is seeking a maximum salary and initial meetings with teams will be held by his agent Rich Paul. Sam Amick of USA Today first reported news of Paul handling the meetings on Sunday.

In 2010, James scheduled six meetings with teams at his offices in Cleveland over the first three days of July.

James' max salary is projected to start at $22.2 million for 14-15.

James' demands for contract length are in flux and he has previously indicated that flexibility is important to him.

All Bosh does now is shoot threes, should just get Gallinari if all they want is a tall shooter for a third of the price.

Or bring back Arvydas Sabonis if you want a super tall shooter.
