That was brutal, I was not expecting that to say the least. I thought Silva was gonna destroy Weidman. I feel bad for Silva, looks like it could be the end of his career.

Worst thing I have ever seen. At 38, he's not coming back from such a massive injury.

And my left ankle actually hurts now from watching that.

Ankle? That was his shin bone and a full compound break.
The profession he is in most likely it will end him. Something like that would take at least two years or better to fully heal enough to take (or give) a impact without the assistance of pins or plates attached.

That being said
Fuck that had to hurt

Watching that was horrible, especially seeing Silvas reaction, falling to the ground and screaming in pain. Worst thing I have seen.

I feel for him. He's one of my favorites, but there's no way he comes back from that. I hate when stuff like this happens, but such is the nature of bloodsport.

It would definitely take nothing short of a miracle for him to come back from that.

I expected Weidman to win and wanted him to, but not like this.

Unfortunately, it looks like Silva's career is done. No fighter comes back from an injury like that at 38. Shame as there were still a load of good fights to see him in - I'd love to see him against Mousasi, Bisping, Machida... so many options.

I was never Silva's biggest fan, but he's had a great career and it's a shame to go out like this. I'll be very, very surprised to see him compete again.

EDIT: Who was it on here that told me I was a fool for thinking that Weidman would retain? Silva has never even won a round against Weidman - he had nothing for him in either fight.

It took me a while to comprehend what happened last night as it happened. Probably the nastiest thing I've seen happen, especially live. Damn. It's such a shame to one of the all-time greats have his career (probably) ended in this fashion.

Things like this show the power of checking kicks though - you can seriously hurt your opponent by doing it, which Weidman did. It was an unfortunate way to end the fight, but it was no fluke.

At least this puts the talk of "Silva wasn't serious in the first fight!" to bed. He had nothing for Weidman in this fight either - infact, Weidman was more dominant in the first round of this fight than he was in the previous one.

UFC say Silva can be back within 3 to 6 months, but I highly doubt that. It was a horrific injury and Silva is nearly 40. If by chance he does come back, he won't be the same.

I seriously doubt he'll be healthy in 3-6 months. And even if he does return healthy at some point, leg kicks are a huge part of his game. How will he get over that psychological trauma of what happened to him.

It was cringe-worthy and squeamish. I don't want to see it again.

It's the worst leg break injury I've seen and I've seen footballers suffer leg-break, ankle injuries. I think it's because this Silva one is so clear whilst the soccer ones are slightly difficult to see as TV cameras, rightly, don't show it much.
