Grudge Match

This looks like a fairly enjoyable film which clearly derives from two boxing classics - Rocky and Raging Bull. Hopefully it hits all the right spots and tells, what looks like, a potentially great story.

Saw this trailer a while back. Looks like it could be a pretty fun movie.

I don't know about this as much. For one, Stallone has not had the best track record with comedies. He's just not that funny when he tries to be. Another thing, Robert De Niro has had the saddest career out of any actor in the past few years, again, particularly in comedies. Little Fockers, The Big Wedding, The Family, Last Vegas, and New Year's Eve have all been received pretty terribly, and those all came in the last three years. In fact, I can only think of two movies since 2010 that he's done that have been really good, and those are Limitless and Silver Linings Playbook.

What really worries me about this, though, is that the commercials make it look like "Boxing Movie", in the same line as "Scary Movie". It just seems like, "Hey, remember this scene from Rocky? Well, what if we spin it with the same joke everyone thought of back when it came out?" It's tired. Now, the trailer sells it so much better, because it takes it more seriously... but then again, it's essentially the plot of Rocky Balboa, so I already see less of a point to it. Kevin Hart can be funny, but if they let him run wild, it can detract from the movie. The only thing that I kind of see as being good is Alan Arkin, but that's only because he's Alan Arkin and he can be great in pretty much anything.

My hopes are not high for this movie. I hope I can be proved wrong, but I kind of doubt it.

^Yeah, wouldn't watch it as Stallone doesn't seem to have that much humour in him.

Can't say I've seen the RDN movies you've mentioned but thought he was brilliant in Analyse This with Billy Crystal. Not seen the second one but that looks funny aswell. He should do a third one with BC as latter was in a movie this year after ages of not acting.

Wouldn't go see it in theaters but the DAY it is released on netflix or even redbox. Better believe I am watching it. It looks good, it looks funny, but I too am worried with how both actors have done lately.
