Daniel Bryan has been cleared for In-Ring Action via WWE

Holy shit! Well this is certainly a major development for WWE and Smackdown. I still doubt they are letting Bryan go full time, but one match at Mania and then some other part time appearance would be great.

Damn, I never thought they'd actually clear him. On Edge and Christians podcast he talked about all the stuff he was doing medically to get cleared with some cutting edge stuff for dealing with concussions so maybe that shit actually worked lol.

Also, clearing him with 5 months left on his contract where he was certainly going to walk and wrestle somewhere else will be good fodder for conspiracy theorists :P . I also loved them naming a bunch of doctors in the article that had cleared him lol. Like "Hey, these guys all think he's fine!!".

Definitely looks like he's teaming with Shane against Owens and Zayn now. Probably two good guys to put him in there with in his first match back. I'm very interested to see what happens afterwards, does he wrestle regularly? I don't know if he's the type to be happy wrestling once every couple months, he wants to be all in.

I know there are a lot of wrestlers Bryan could feud with that would lead to the best match quality.

However, the person I hope he gets into it the most is The Miz. That needs a physical confrontation.

This sort of reminds me about Shawn Michaels suddenly being cleared to wrestle after three/four years away.

Nobody ever thought it was possible.

Major body of work already behind them.

Even similar ages, I think?

Imagine if Daniel Bryan's second act of his career is just as good as HBK's was.

Can't wait for the Daniel Bryan vs Shane McMahon Five Star Classic!!!! :lol

Did see that Shinsuke wants to work with him, that'd be cool. AJ, Sami, Kevin would all be cool.

Out of all the potential matchups left for Bryan to have, the one I want to see most is Bryan vs Miz. The other matchups would be good on a technical level I guess, but with wrestling quality being what it is these days and Bryan being out for so long, I find myself nowhere near as excited by those as I would have been like 2-3 years ago.

This whole exchange had me super excited and super uneasy at the same time.

In terms of dream matches, Miz is #1. There is so much history to build off of there. Outside of that, I really want to see a Bryan vs Zayn feud. You could see the indecisiveness in Zayn's face when Owens was screaming at him to hit the Heluva Kick on Bryan. Having Sami feud with the babyface that he mirrored himself after, could be really good story telling. If they wanted to go the other way, Zayn could stay heel and Bryan could instead mentor a guy like Johnny Gargano. A Gargano/Bryan vs Zayn/Owens feud could be fun for a little while.

Daniel Bryan's retirement played a huge part in my disinterest in wrestling. I was genuinely excited to see him every week. After he retired, there was that many people I really cared that much about. It just wasn't doing it for me any more. This is huge news.

How has he been cleared as the neck(?) injury was career ending and could have caused him problems further on in life? It may be another HBK-esque career reinvigoration but if it was a neck injury, I'd be worried.

The injury wasn't neck related, it was because of a series of concussions. The science around concussions is a little vague, and even when he retired the first time there were doctors outside WWE that said he should be fine to compete. Since then he's tried some experimental treatments, and he's gone to see a lot of concussion specialists over the last year who judged that his brain function was normal for someone his age. So he's been cleared on that basis.

I'm excited to see Bryan back. Mostly I'm thrilled that he's healthy. But I would have preferred to see him wrestle elsewhere, if I'm honest. Somewhere where he could have made a difference, rather than WWE under-using him again. Imagine being stuck on the sidelines for two years and then your first feud when you get back is a Shane McMahon vehicle. That being said, I did just check out the closing angle on Smackdown and it was very good. It was smart for them to have him get physical this soon. Now people can look forward to his first match back at Wrestlemania, without the apprehension of it also being the first time he's taking a bump.

Things have changed enough since Bryan left that there are some cool opponents lined up for him now on Smackdown alone. Owens and Zayn could both make for cool singles matches down the line. Styles or Nakamura would be even better (if WWE isn't planning those two matches for major shows already, they're nuts).

I know there's been a lot of build for the Miz match, but I'm not that excited about it. With Miz the angle is always going to be better than the payoff. They should do something with it at some point though.
