RIP David Bowie

Postby Matteo » Jan 11, '16, 3:17 am

David Bowie has passed away from a long battle with cancer at the age of 69.

He was a prodigiously talented individual, and had unparalleled charisma. He was one of the leading symbols for the dissension and rebellion of the mid-to-late 60s and constantly surprised audiences with his unique appearence and distinctively recognisable talent. A great actor, too, by the way.

The news of his death has really saddened me. He's immensely popular with older generations in this country (and some younger ones) and both my parents were huge fans. His influence on the music industry is almost unparalleled by any other artist. Often when somebody dies people tend to romanticise their accomplishments, but Bowie really did change the face of music forever.

This sucks.

Man, this one really bums me out. I didn't even realize he had cancer. Bowie was absolutely one of a kind and I'm going to miss him a lot.

Extremely upset by this.

Creative beyond words. Bowie hs influenced not just my taste in all things but my own attempts, no matter how feeble, to be creative as well. That's a gift unto itself. He will be missed.

Same with me, I was shocked when I heard that. Well it seems like they never really published he had cancer in the media were I am from.

I was a huge fan of him growing up since my parents listed to him. My parents also contributed to what type of music I like today

I know the guy has made a lot of songs. But what I best remember him from is scaring the shit out of me in Labyrinth.

Also, he was in The Prestige, which is possibly my favourite movie. RIP.

This is such a terrible loss for the music industry. David Bowie was one of the greatest artists to ever live. He was constantly pushing the creative boundary, crossing over genres, and renovating himself time after time. His last album, Backstair, was amazing. Even at age 69 he was never out of touch. David Bowie is a blueprint to what musicians should aspire to be.
