Eminem is a great rapper on a technical level but I've never been a huge fan of his "faux marketed by Dre misogyny".
With that being said, The Marshall Mathers LP is his best major record label but the best stuff he ever did was before he got big, before Slim Shady and before he was a victim and also the champion of what I previously called "faux marketed by Dre misogyny".
Eminem wasn't hateful or fake at all on his demo LP Infinite which is by far his best record.
Bro I fuck with the lyricism on that album, and the title track is his best song, but you're being a hipster if you're saying Infinite is the best album he's made. Those beats? Dusty as fuck. Shit was made in 96 with beats from like 90-91 man. Damn.
This song is his best he's ever made though I will agree. Something is really weird about this album. He would have become the king of the underground if he stuck to this style. It's his most accesible album, dude isn't YELLING CAUSE I'M SHADY on the album. It has barely any swearing. I agree it's a beautiful piece of hip hop.
And to elaborate on the beats being dated, the production is still "good enough" to me. Detroit style with some funk elements.
"That eases you mentally, gently, sentimentally, instrumentally with entity, dementedly meant to be Infinite"
I bumped that album yesterday for the second time. It's so...idk. It has this feeling I can't explain. Apparently Eminem nearly killed himself after writing one of the songs for this album. Infinite > MMLP2 & Encore, but not TES, or the MMLP, or Recovery.
Shout out to the great line on It's Ok (?) about his baby girl, and wanting to get her at least half a million.
