I agree that they took some missteps with the most recent film, but the cast was the best thing about it. By far. I just think recasting was nothing but an attempt to drum up more publicity and make it look like they're fixing the things people disliked about the film without making any actual effort to do so.
I mean, they're not even doing the origin story. Why not keep going with the same cast and just make better films?
It's almost TNA-like in my mind.

Change for change's sake. Throwing too many new ideas at the wall so they don't have to actually try to dig deeper with something and work on finding something that's really good. They had a problem and instead of dealing with it, they're just papering over the cracks. Addressing the problem in the least mature way possible, basically.
I'd be amazed if the new film was more than mediocre. It probably won't be bad, cos Spiderman is an easy character to work with. But I doubt it'll be all that good. There are too many superhero movies out there as it is, and I somehow doubt the third version of Spiderman is going to be the film that brings something fresh and interesting to the genre.
Still, I guess I'll wait for reviews and if they're really good I'll check the film out. I have always been a fan of Spiderman more so than most of the Marvel characters.
