The greatest films throughout the decades

I want to post more in this section and figured this would be a fun way to do it.

I've seen a shit load (4,000+) of films from around the world and I'd enjoy throwing around some recommendations if anybody is interested. For the next few days I'm going to compile some lists that include my top 30-50 favorite movies from each decade. I will specify if any of the films receive my prestigious 10/10 score.

The lists will all be in order in typical countdown fashion. We'll start in the 1920s and end today in the 2010s. If anybody is interested, I can do a 1910s and/or an 1800s list as well. If anybody wants to add your own lists, feel free!

Almost made the cut.

I haven't seen it since High School, but I remember it vividly enough to call it probably a high 9/10. I really should give it another spin again but it's definitely one of Lumet's best. My favorite of his fims is the super tense and realistic Dog Day Afternoon.

No I kid, I can sort of understand criticisms against Ghostbusters but in the end it's one of the funniest, most entertaining and most charming passion projects of the 80s. It almost personified the best things about that decade of filmmaking in Hollywood. I didn't really appreciate it as much until I saw it on the big screen last year. The matte paintings and widescreen shots just don't deliver as they should on an old VHS or on TV. It's a truly spectacular piece of movie magic.

I love Planes, Trains and Automobiles so much that it's almost painful. It's a solid 8/10 for me, not quite good enough to make the cut personally but it's so nostalgic and heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time. Shit, maybe I'm underrating this fucker.

I do show them love, they just didn't make the upper 50. If it were 80 or so, they'd both be on for sure. Ghostbusters has more artistic merits.
