I watched this last week. What a smugly ironic, self-aware piece of shit.

You can't just throw a bunch of 80s cliches together and assume that it will work as a film. I'm so glad that this schmuck didn't get his full budget.

2/10 at best.

I got the joke and the punchline failed. Kung Fury sucked ass.

I'm still fun at parties. :headbang

I have to agree with VaderBomb on this one. I really tried to like it but it fell flat. It just wasn't funny. The part I kind of enjoyed was the two Nazis talking about their mustaches. Also the Thor scene where he drops into the lake was visually pretty cool.

It was... fine.

Is it the greatest thing ever? No. Is it a fun way to spend half an hour? Yeah, I'll give it that. I do think 30 minutes is the perfect length for something like this. Longer, and I do think it'd have some trouble keeping my interest, and then I might feel like it's too self-indulgent. At it's current length, it moves quick enough for me to go, "WTF was that?!" and have a good chuckle, but it's just shy of me going, "All right, we get the joke, let's move on to something useful."

What? What about this seemed smug? This was just fun. I'd say half the films you post about are smug.

Which ones?

Kung Fury is smug because it tries so hard to pretend and shove it in my face that it's so fucking awesome when in fact it's lame as all shit.

The point is this movie was just a ton of fun. Over the top maybe, but not smug. But a lot of the arthouse-type films you post about cone across as hella smug. Even talking about them comes across as smug sometimes.

I can't claim to like or be interested in all the films Vader posts about, but he was criticizing a movie. Lets not turn this into a conversation about criticizing a member. That's not the same.

Besides, just because a film is less well known, that doesn't mean it's smug.

Yeah, there's no reason to get personal just because a person doesn't like something.

You can throw out "Rule #1" if you want, but his reaction to the movie that was supposed to be a complete joke was just crass violation of "Rule #1" in the first place. You can break "Rule #1" without directly talking about another member of the forum. He was being smug about calling a movie smug, it's the pot calling the kettle black. I think everything after that was just in jest.

Again, I get that the movie was supposed to be a joke. That still doesn't mean that it doesn't suck. It wasn't funny and even at a mere 30 minutes it was actually tedious. I can imagine how grueling it would'v been to sit through the full length feature that it was intended to become.
