This is a tough one for me, as I prefer Eastwood's films - however I'm voting Brando. Despite Eastwood being a complete badass, I feel Brando has excelled in more diverse and challenging roles. He really had to change up his style of acting throughout his career, to a greater extent than Eastwood did anyway - and had more memorable performances too. That gets my vote.

Favourite Eastwood film: Dirty Harry

Favourite Brando film: The Godfather (not even close)

Eastwood. Brando was great, but he let it make him lazy in his later career, and it really showed on screen.

Favourite performances by Clint Eastwood - Play Misty for Me, Unforgiven

Favourite performances by Marlon Brando - A Streetcar Named Desire, On the Waterfront

This one is really close, so I figured I'd revive the thread. I voted Brando, but not without difficulty. Eastwood is certainly an icon, but in terms of acting ability I definitely wouldn't put him on Brando's level. Eastwood is outstanding at a particular type of role, but Brando's versatility in classic roles from The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire and more is really what's impressive. I'd put him in my top three or four of all time.
