This one is a victory for De Niro here mostly because of his range. Bogart is an undeniable icon in Hollywood history, though. One of the most recognizable actors in film history. He's just not quite on De Niro's level in terms of versatility and the overall catalogue of characters he's played.

I've never seen Bogart act, blasphemous as that may sound. So another comfortable vote for De Niro here!

De Niro by a fair way. Bogart, while really fun to watch and charismatic as all hell, was a little one-note.

Favourite performance by De Niro - The King of Comedy (although it's been a long while since I saw it.)

Favourite performance by Bogart - The African Queen (although I haven't seen much of his stuff, and what I have seen was when I was a teenager.)

Having not seen too much of Humphrey Bogart's stuff, the impression I get is that he was a very likable and charismatic leading man, but not necessarily possessing the kind of acting range that someone like De Niro would have. More of that era's version of a George Clooney or a Brad Pitt rather than a Robert De Niro or a Jack Nicholson. Like I said though, I've not seen too much of his work, so I could be well off in my impressions.

Seen some of Bogart's films and although he was cool for his time period, DeNiro is on another level.

One of my favorite DeNiro scenes. Apparently DeNiro had to get extremely buff for this film and paid a dentist around 10,000$ to purposely mess up his teeth for this role. It's amazing to think that this is the same actor in Casino, Goodfellas, Deer Hunter, Taxi Driver, etc.

I can't say I've seen too many Bogart films - Casablanca is the only one on that list I think I've actually seen. Because of that I feel a little bit unfair giving my verdict, but still. My vote goes with De Niro.

Favourite performance - Taxi Driver. Probably makes my top 10 favourite films.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre is the best film that either of these men are in. Taxi Driver is also a 10/10 masterpiece and De Niro is unparalleled.

You know, I can't quite grasp the logic in nominating someone like Bogart only for the tournament to proceed like "well i've not seen much of his work"

It happened in the Wrestler one too, with Bruno Sammartino.

Yeah, I deliberately didn't nominate a few people because I figured not enough people would know them and therefore they couldn't possibly attract enough votes to proceed through the tournament.

I think that's going to be a problem at times in the tournament: for people to really know what they're talking about throughout the entirety of the tournament, they'll have to have watched hundreds of films featuring these specific actors. It's a tall ask for most of us. On the bright side, at least it should mean that the tournament will heat up in later rounds when we'll all probably be more familiar with the majority of actors involved.

Much like the wrestler tournament, there are a lot of choices here that I am not that familiar with. Humphrey Bogart is a tad before my time. The only movie of his I have ever seen is Casablanca. Decent movie, but DeNiro has had so many great roles and he has played a wide range of characters during his career. My pick goes to him.
