I am actually somewhat optimistic about Vaughn's inclusion. I have always maintained that he is a fairly decent actor, but his selectional for film roles has been average at best. Still, there is a distinctive demeanour to him, I find, and If his character is written well, and I'm sure it will considering how truly remarkable the first season one was, then I can see him pulling it off rather convincingly. Not many people take him seriously as an actor, so I'm hoping this will change that. As for Farrell, no complains on my end.
I look forward to season two. This show will obviously go into a different thematic and stylistic direction, and it'll be interesting to see what route they'll take, especially in regards to time period and a general visual approach. The first season spawned some of the most impeccable photography of any television series I've ever seen. That gloriously choreographed long-take in episode three or four was one of the most impressive things I have ever seen, from a technical standpoint, in the medium of television. It rivalled The Sopranos in terms of capturing a purely cinematic aesthetic. The fact that the series was actually shot on 35mm with Panavision equipment helped, too. You don't come across much television that has the actual production resources of a feature-length film.
