Not necessarily the best, but the most iconic and recognisable. Who would you pick? I think Samuel L. Jackson would certainly be up there.

Man this is tough. You have big names like Denzel, Morgan Freeman, Samuel L Jackson, Will Smith, Bill Cosby. If this was the best Black actor I'd say Denzel wins this hands down. But iconic is more than just about acting ability. Fuck it I'm going with Jaleel White simply because Steve Urkel.

When you say iconic, I think who is most recognized? Who has done great work and is respected greatly amongst other actors.
For this I would have to say Morgan freeman, Samuel l Jackson or denzel Washington

I'd say Morgan Freeman or Denzel Washington. Samuel L Jackson portrayed an iconic role, but I wouldn't say he himself as an actor is iconic.

I like Denzel
I think Morgan Freeman & Will Smith are excellent

However, Guinness Book of World Records currently has Samuel L Jackson as the highest grossing actor of all time not just African American actor. I have to give to Samuel on this one.
