Have you ever walked out of a movie?

Postby Everlong » Mar 17, '14, 12:37 pm

I personally have not, but I know a couple people who have and thought it'd be interesting to see if anyone on the Pub had hated a movie so much that they walked out despite shelling out for tickets :P

No, because I've always gone with other people who might be enjoying the film or who might feel the need to stay. A lot of the time I'd rather stick around and finish the film so I could properly criticize it afterwards, but there are a few films I would have gladly stopped watching half way through. Off the top of my head:

- Matrix 3
- The Perfect Storm
- Serendipity
- Pearl Harbour
- Salt

There's nothing worse than sitting through a movie that's just agonisingly dull. Just waiting for the damn thing to end, but not knowing how long it will take. It's painful.

Yeah, that sounds about right for you :lol

I think the only movie that I ever actually sat in the theater and thought "this is unredeemably awful" was Rush Hour 3, but I had to stick it out because a friend wanted to see it and he'd had a shitty couple weeks. I'd have walked out otherwise, but I wouldn't have BEEN there otherwise so I guess it wouldn't have been an issue.

The only other movies I can think of as coming close were Watchmen and the latest Hobbit movie. Watchmen could have been great if it was like an hour shorter and the latest Hobbit movie felt like a train wreck for most of it, with some great parts peppered in.

Never have. You may as well see it through to the end. However, I did fall asleep during What Lies Beneath.

Yeah never walked out but like VInce, I did fall asleep during a movie once. Saw "Avatar" in non 3D. Got bored halfway through and woke up maybe a half an hour before the end.

I believe you, that movie was terrible.

I'm usually pretty selective of what I go to see in the Cinema, it isn't often that I can't just wait for it to be on DVD or whatever, so no, I've never walked out or even disliked a movie I've seen in the cinema that I can remember.

My girlfriend and I actually walked out of Need for Speed this past weekend. It was so bad on so many levels. One of the crappiest, cheesiest action movies I've ever seen. I had extremely low expectations going into it, because I knew it'd be a typical car/action film. But it was so much worse than the typical car/action film. Ridiculous plot, even more ridiculous acting. I'm assuming the production companies involved blew their budget on cars and Aaron Paul instead of hiring better actors for all the other roles.

We didn't. From the looks of it, we were the only ones who walked out. I guess they felt they didn't need to please just us if everybody else stayed. However, everyone in the theater was laughing at some parts that weren't supposed to be comedic. Just a poorly made film.

I am cheap and don't like to waste money. So unless I have a good reason to leave, I will stick it out. Terrible movies can be funny if they are really bad.

Once it was the inglorious bastards. I ok with the theme of the movie but I hate subtitle movies. I find the words go to fast to read then you miss the main points

Yeah, about 6 years ago my ex-girlfriend, her friends & I walked out of Mr. Woodcock. Terrible comedy, we walked in 15 minutes into the film & the only reason we even went was because we were bored & there were no other good movies showing...
