This would have been unheard of a few years ago. Has anyone here seen Black Panther yet?

I saw it over the weekend. It's a good film. It's basically the same Marvel formula as usual, but the execution is better. It doesn't really tie in with the other films in the Marvel Universe, which really helps the film establish its own world and vibe. The score and cinematography are also handled a little differently - you could see a little more of the director's vision in there, although it would have been better if they'd gone even further with it.

The cast is absolutely top notch. It's cool to see so many of the best young black actors of this generation in the same film. The clothes are great too. That might be a weird detail to add, but I wanted all of Black Panther's clothes.

It wasn't perfect, but it was a very good cinema movie and comfortably the best MCU film I've seen. It'd probably fall just outside of my top five superhero films. I'd recommend it.

The main thing that annoyed me about the film was the Stan Lee cameo, which sucked and broke my immersion anyway, but I also felt it should have been removed in light of the recent sexual harassment claims.

I haven't seen it yet, but I figure I will sooner or later -- like with most Marvel movies it's not a priority for me, but I usually end up seeing them because my wife loves them, haha.

But yeah, I've heard good things. The title stat is crazy here. really shows a) just how wildly successful this movie has been this far and b) just how much DC absolutely fucked up their entire cinematic universe.

I mean when the third Thor movie smashes a Justice League movie in numbers, and BLack Panther does it in four days (both of these guys were never exactly A-list superheroes before the MCU), that's a big deal.

I wasn't a huge fan of the movie (not that it was bad - it was good, just not my taste), but I'm also not a big fan of the superhero genre anyway. Outside of a classic like The Dark Knight, I'm usually indifferent towards them. The cast was fantastic though. So I was happy that I was able to support everyone involved with the movie.
