So after Terminator Genisys, the latest film in the franchise and rumours of future films, it seems there will be no more as planned.
On the back of the last two films, not a major surprise however surprised it did so well in China and can only assume it was Schwarzenegger's fading lure that compelled people to the cinemas as it did for me. Salvation was dire, but Genisys was a very marginal improvement and the only cool moments were the early parts with the 84 v 2015 Terminator colliding.
Interestingly, the article notes James Cameron might pick up the rights again in 2019 - why he let them go having created, what was an entertaining story in '84 IDK - and produce a film to be developed in the intervening years from T2 to T3 and you could fully trust him to deliver something credible but safe to say Schwarzenegger won't be involved. Well, more likely in a CGI format than himself.
On a sidenote, has Schwarzenegger's return to the movie industry really reaped its rewards? Besides Terminator, none of his films - from what I gather - have done well and naturally as you get older, newer stars arrive but Arnie's appeal seems to have faded. Even his Apprentice run has been terminated.
