Favorite Christmas Film?

Postby Headlesspete » Dec 04, '16, 6:03 pm

So i just watched Home Alone 1 and 2 back to back, and realized they may be my favorite Christmas films of all time, although the Grisdwlads Family Vacation is sometime #1 too depending on my mood.

So, get sharing, whats your favorite Christmas movie?>

Home Alone 1 & 2 are epic, but you gotta watch A Christmas Story.
It's a movie filmed in the 80's, but set in the 50's, and man oh man it's good. Narrator depicts life and love and perfection as a kid. You won't be sorry. Watch it. A Christmas Story.

As for nearly "new" movies, Jim Carrey actually didn't do too shabby at all with The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. The original Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas is probably the greatest cartoon of all time, but Jim Carrey's take is nearly 99.9% up there with it and gets nearly zero credit.

If all else fails, watch Tim Allen's "The Santa Claus" (the first especially, 2nd ain't bad at all either, but the 3rd is like aids).

Not that you'd wanna hear me out, but I'm a Christmas guy. I'm married with a 5 year old boy and so this is my 6th year being Santa for him and also, my nephew is 18 years old and I pretty much handled that, as well. Love me or hate me, I know dat Santa and dem movies.

You won't be sorry.

PS - If you want an adult movie, try Christmas with the Kranks.

Santa's Slay. Arguably one of the top 5 Goldberg films.

Home Alone is a classic. #DidYouKnow that Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 55%?

Home Alone 2 is fun too, though they went a bit too far at times. Still, arguably one of the top 5 Donald Trump films.

1. A Christmas Story
2. Muppet Christmas Carol
3. Christmas Vacation

Those are definitely my top three. Other yearly watches for me include Elf, White Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life, The Polar Express, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Home Alone, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Guilty pleasure: Jingle All the Way.

7. How the Grinch Stole Christmas - Jim Carrey version

What do you consider The Nightmare before Christmas? I have argued with my GF that it is a Christmas movie, but she insists that it is a Thanksgiving movie. Her argument is that it is the best mix of Halloween and Christmas, which puts the ideal time to watch it as Thanksgiving. I understand that thought, but it is still about Christmas. What would you all consider it?

Nightmare Before Christmas is really a Christmas movie. Though it's also a Halloween movie. There's basically a two month period where watching it is fair game. It's also one of the better Christmas movies, mostly due to the awesome score by Danny Elfman.

Elf is a Christmas favourite of mine. I'm not usually a Will Ferrell fan, but I make an exception in this case. It's just light-hearted and fun and a good way to get into the festive spirit.

Die Hard is the best Christmas film though. I don't even give a fuck what anyone else says. It's so great.

I know this is a little old (happy new year by the way).

But I'd have to go with The Santa Clause. Simply a classic.

Personally favourite of mine is Bad Santa. But as far as classic Christmas movies go, Home Alone tops it for me.

Am I the only one who finds A Christmas Story to be completely overplayed and overrated? It just might be that I hate that kind of story, the, "Oh, my childhood was so embarrassing, but also somehow charming" crap, but I find it to be insipid and boring.
