Anyone else looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy?

Talk about movies and television in here!

I thought it was the best Marvel movie so far. Everyone in the movie was just so good. Even if you hate superheroes/comic books you'd probably love the movie, unless you hate having fun.

Are any of these ever any good though? One of my friends wanted to stay to see the scene after the credits in X-Men: Days of Future Past and it was an enormous waste of time. I'm never bothered staying for these things anymore. Waiting for 10 minutes just for a scene a few seconds long where they introduce us to a minor villain (because if they were major they'd be introduced in the fucking movie), doesn't really appeal to me.

These clips are so short most of the time that I don't see why they don't just include them in the original movie. There's no harm in spending a few seconds building the sequel.

Saw this on Sunday. Best movie of the summer and best Marvel movie yet. While other summer movies try to be dark and grounded, this movie was just fun from start to finish. No jokes fell flat, all characters were used well, the action scenes were awesome and the soundtrack was great. Chris Pratt was perfect as StarLord, im hoping he becomes the next huge movie star with this and Jurassic World out next year. Even Batista, who i thiught would hold this movie down, had some of the films best scenes. Theres nothing i would have changed. I can honestly give this film a 10/10.

I saw it yesterday. It was ok, but I have absolutely no idea why it's getting such ridiculously good reviews. I'll c/p what I said in the other thread here:

Just saw Guardians of the Galaxy after hearing lots of great reviews. It was better than I was expecting based on previews, but still nothing special.

The writing was average. Predictable plotline, unoriginal jokes, cliches everywhere. The movie opens with an over the top sob story scene to try to get you to emotionally invested, but it winds up being pretty unimportant in the overall scheme of things. The romantic tension between Gomorrah and Starlord seemed kind of unnecessary.

On the positive side, Chris Pratt is a very likable main character, the raccoon wasn't as annoying as expected, the villains were pretty cool and the visual effects were excellent.

All in all, probably a 6.5/10. Not a bad popcorn flick, but largely forgettable and doesn't really add a whole lot to the Marvel/Avengers franchise.

It was fun, but the fact that people are calling it the best superhero flick ever to me is absolutely insane, especially when it's possibly not even in the top five Avengers series movies put out so far.

Here's probably how I'd rank them:

1. Iron Man
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3. Thor
4. The Avengers
5. Iron Man 3
6. Guardians of the Galaxy
7. Captain America: The First Avenger
8. Thor 2
9. The Incredible Hulk
10. Iron Man 2

And then there are the following Superhero movies that I'd say are certainly better:

Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Rises
X-Men: First Class
X-Men: Days of Future Passed

I dunno, it was a fun movie, but I don't understand the hype at all.

Yeah, this is one I enjoyed quite a bit. Mostly because it was just fun: fun action scenes, fun characters, some hilarious jokes and a groovy soundtrack. It's probably one of my favourite films from the Avengers franchise because mostly "fun" is what those films get right anyway, and that seemed to be the entirety of what Guardians of the Galaxy was trying to achieve.

It's still not a "great" film though. It's far from the best or one of the best superhero films made to date. The plot was weak, the villains were paper thin and it just wasn't as clever or interesting as a number of other films in the genre. This was an entertaining summer blockbuster, but I wouldn't overselling it by calling it much more than that. It's loads of fun. I'd encourage everyone to check it out with a few friends, because you will have a good time. Just don't go in expecting the best film ever, because it's not that. It's just a cool ride.

I was surprised by Bautista. I's say it was closer to the front of the pack than the back of the pack though.
