Who else is pumped for the new season of Game of Thrones?

Postby prophet » Mar 12, '15, 2:47 pm

Awwwww yeah! Can't wait, easily the most highly anticipated season so far in my book what with Bravos and Dorne new locations we'll be visiting. Pretty awesome trailer too (dat beard on Tyrion).

Is it me or do they give Dany like the exact same lines in every trailer since the show began? :lol Not like literally but does anyone get what I mean? They show Emilia Clarke looking confident in her typical Dany resting bitch-face whilst they have her spout some cool 'nothing' lines that sound great in the trailer but boring in the show (typical Dany on all platforms really, boring). I am more optimistic about her story this season though what with Jorah in the fighting pits and everything.

I'm half excited and half nervous. The quality of the show started to dip a bit in season 4, particularly some of the writing and acting (looking at the Dany/Arya storylines in particular) and they're starting to stray farther and farther from the book canon. The prospect of them venturing into uncharted territory in some storylines this season has me really nervous.

That being said, there are definitely some events that I'm quite looking forward to see unfold as well. But for the first time I'm not 100% aboard the hype train heading into a new season... only like 70%.

This is actually something I'm really happy about. If they're taking things in their own direction and creating original stories then that may mean they're not going to spoil much of tWoW!

I'm mixed in my feelings about it. I enjoyed the last season a lot, and for that reason I'm stoked to see more Game of Thrones. On the other hand, I read the books and I know where some of the stories are going next and some of them get a whole lot more boring. There's more time spent outside Westeros, which I never appreciate.

Then again the show is straying from the books and I don't think that's a bad thing, because the books are far from perfect. So I'm definitely curious to see how things are done.

I am very excited for the new season. The show has some faults (anything involving Bran), but overall I am big fan. I am very excited for them to explore Dorne. I hope the Jon Snow story picks up a bit. Though the battle at the wall was awesome to watch, I really don't think we have seen much from Jon Snow in terms of actual character development. I had a friend spoil some of the story and now I am really excited to see what happens with Cersai and The Mountain.

Shit is going down this season! I'm ok with them changing stuff. It will hopefully keep them from spoiling the books. Or should I say book, since there is no way Martin is living long enough to write two.

I'm in a constant struggle to know which is my favorite TV show ever, this or Lost. I think everyone season has been fantastic, and i never feel disappointed after the episode. As per, the trailer looks amazing, and i can't wait to see where things head. Long way this show continue. Gotta say however, i am SO glad Bran isn't in this season. That kid started out great, but holy smokes has he turned into an awful actor. Maybe its just his story, but its the only part of the show i get bored with. Well, him and Samwell.

However, a question for those who have read the books....

Spoiler:
So i read the corresponding books up to where the show is, as i prefer to watch the TV version first then read the books. In the books, Catylyn Stark comes back as Lady Stoneheart. I don't want to know what she gets up to in the books, because if she DOES turn up in the show, i want to be surprised as to what she does, but i have looked up if she will be in the show (as in the books she should be here by now), and see it isn't looking likely. Anyone have a theory on if she will be in it? If you can answer without spoiling what happens, that would be great.

@Headlesspete

Spoiler:
I'm pretty sure she won't be in it. They had the perfect opportunity to introduce her right at the very end of last season just after the credits to serve as the ultimate holy shit moment but it didn't happen. I don't think the character is really needed in the show (as much as I'd love to see it happen) and I also doubt they'd bring Michelle Fairley back on a high wage without having her say anything. I guess they'll bring elements of her story arc and give them to someone else like they've done throughout the show. Most likely they'll have Sansa become more and more of a badass as she manipulates Littlefinger and slowly begins to seek retribution on those that have wronged her family - that's all I say to keep from spoiling anything that could potentially happen!

I will easily debate with you as to why Lost is one of the greatest TV shows of all time! :D

Lost did alot for TV and around that time it was hot. Deservedly so.

I'm a massive fan.

But to say it's one (if not the) of the greatest shows ever made is a bit of a stretch now. Especially when we've had Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, True Detective, House of Cards, Orange is the new Black, The Wire all start/finish within the last five years and that's just naming a few off the top of my head. There's literally thousands of hours of television that is better than Lost now.

Edit: Maybe thousands if a little much but there's loads of television shows that are of a higher quality than Lost. And i'm a fan. It holds massive sentimental value for me. I even liked the last season. If Lost was made today it would be great because we have better minds, more funding and better actors involved in television.

Pete, if you want to set up a Lost thread so I can complain about how badly written it is again, then I'm game. It'll feel just like old times. :P

On Game of Thrones though ...

SPOILER
I always thought Lady Stoneheart was a poor replacement for Beric Dondarrion. I found him a lot more interesting. I'm all for them leaving out Stoneheart if it means they can use Beric again down the line.
