A new Aliens movie is coming, produced by Ridley Scott

So apparently there is going to be a Prometheus 2 movie (...why?) and after that, another movie in the Aliens franchise. There's already a lot of talk that Sigourney Weaver will be involved.

I'm not particularly a fan of all these attempts to resurrect old, dead franchises.

Prometheus was terrible, just like everything else Ridley Scott has done recently. I don't see the need to try and reboot, rework or extend the Aliens franchise or most of these older franchises to be honest. The original couple of movies still hold up great and the world gains nothing new from studios fucking with them or trying to replace them. But if it was to be done, and done well, it would have to be done by someone else other than Scott.

The only good thing about any of his movies these days is the cinematography. Which would be more of a feather in his hat if he was just a cinematographer.

I kind of disagree, Prometheus has a lot of holes and a lot of dumb things but as a whole movie I still enjoyed it, maybe I am a bit of a fanboy. I am really looking forward to a Prometheus 2 and if Scott is on a new Alien movie to follow it along the story I am more than willing to watch that too.

I also want to note though, Alien is my favorite of the movies, Aliens was good, but a very different approach and not Scott's work at all.

Anything after that to me was a bit mere garbage, so seeing things coming back to the originators hands has a bit of a glee filled kid in me. I say bring it on.

I could write a novel-length essay on the amount of problems I had with Prometheus. There were so many of them. I've ranted about that film more than maybe any other.

The biggest problem is the characters. None of them make any sense. They all just do things, without any logical motivation. The guy with the maps gets lost, the biologist is the one that needs to save his face in front of an obviously dangerous alien. The robot just pushes buttons at random. Theron is the villain for trying to do practical things like not let zombies onto the ship (which is totally what Ripley would have done in Alien).

It was awful. One of the worst films that I've seen in some years. It was pretty though.

Ridley Scott makes me really sad.

Ridley Scott is one of the reasons i've ever dreamed of wanting to get into film. A lot of his work caught me at particular moments in my life and i've just loved him. Alien, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, American Gangster, Body of Lies, Kingdom of Heaven (directors cut) are some of my favourite films for various different reasons. Some of them aren't the greatest (like Body of Lies or Kingdom of Heaven) but all of them showed me how beautiful a film could be in various different genres.

I just get frustrated with him these days. Exodus: Gods and Kings looked wonderful. Every frame was just gorgeous but it just wasn't all that compelling to watch. Prometheus was much the same. It looked fantastic but there was just a lackluster story behind it. Edit: @Daz, Robin Hood was pretty bad too. It's nothing compared to Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven. I know he can do better and I fucking want him to. I want to sit here and say that my favourite director knocks it out of the park every single time but he just doesn't any more.

And I really wish he did. I used to dream about writing something and having him fucking make it but... I wouldn't want to at the moment.

Im very excited for this because Neil Blomkamp is going to be directing it. Hes definatley one of my favorite directors and know how to do sci-fi.
