The next movie features Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem and Brenton Thwaites, plus Kaya Scodelario. The movie will be called Dead Men Tell No Tales.

I didn't realize people still cared about these?

I didn't even like the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Also It bugged the shit out of me when they just started calling it Pirates all of a sudden like that was it's name all along. They had to have known it was already a porn movie as well.

The only Pirates movie I liked was the first one. I saw the second one and it got too trippy. The third one I don't even know what dafuq I saw. The fourth one I think I turned off about 10 minutes in.

Adam Sandler, that guy make so many shitty movie, yet they keep give him stuff to do. I know he's topped the list before at least.

^^ You have it right. It's Adam Sandler. Though he's a producer and heavily involved in the making of his own movies, so while they might be terrible, I can understand why he pays himself so highly. Johnny Depp is another story though. At this point, I'm not sure why he keeps getting cast as leading man in big budget films, given so many of them are turning out to be flops.

Eh, I wouldn't call any of the sequels "god-awful", even the fourth one. I thought 1 was really freaking terrific and it's a movie I can still watch anytime, but the sequels are just what I call "painfully average".

Nothing about any of the sequels stood out, nothing about them mattered, I can't honestly remember anything about them beyond the fact that I saw them and I was not angry at them... but why do we need another one?

Will I see it? Probably not, I only saw the fourth one because someone else paid for the ticket. Unless that happens, I'll just ignore Pirates 6*.


* Pirates 5 was bizarrely set in the old west and called The Lone Ranger. Never understood that wild change of direction, and I'm at least glad they're gonna go back to actually being pirates.

The best acting I have seen Johnny Depp do in years was in "Tusk" and that was just such an odd role in general.

I'm in the minority who actually enjoyed the the second and third film. Sure they over reached, trying to give the series some sort of mythology, and they didn't have the sheer fun of the first one, but I enjoyed them a lot. I actually liked the ridiculousness of the over complicated plot of the third film. It makes perfect sense, in the oddest sort of way, and it was a departure from the normal paint by the numbers bullshit.

The fourth film was actually quite fun in and off itself, so I don't necessarily have a problem with them making a fifth. I do not that regardless of whether or not it's good, it'll likely fall into the same trap with critics that the Lone Ranger did. Which would be a shame.
