Favourite films with a female as the main character?

There are a lot out there but not to the same degree of males. What are some of your favourite films where the female plays the leading role? I'd go with Ingmar Bergman's Autumn Sonata, which is simply a powerhouse in method acting.

That is probably the most I have enjoyed a film with a female lead character. It was hard to come up with a number of movies with a female lead that I liked.

These are all some of my favourites. V For Vendetta in particular is probably my favourite comic book movie. And I still think that Anne Hathaway's performance in Rachel Getting Married is the most powerful acting performance I've ever seen. It's utterly captivating.

Hunger Games, Mean Girls and Easy A are other favourites of mine. If Leon counts then I'd definitely say Leon also. I'm not sure if Natalie Portman counts as the main character in that film. Maybe the title character should be considered the main character.
