Image

Based on a true story about a man named Christopher Gardner. Gardner has invested heavily in a device known as a "Bone Density scanner".
He feels like he has made these devices. However, they do not sell as they are marginally better than the current technology at a much higher price.
As Gardner tries to figure out how to sell them, his wife leaves him, he loses his house, his bank account, and credit cards.
Forced to live out in the streets with his son, Gardner is now desperate to find a steady job; he takes on a job as a stockbroker,
but before he can receive pay, he needs to go through 6 months of training, and to sell his devices.

Shall we update with a new film every Monday? Or every two weeks? We'll see how this goes :)

Personally I'm looking forward to this one. It's one of those I've always meant to get around to seeing but never have, and I've heard a lot of good things about it. Enjoy!

Man I always think you can't get more weird and then you say something else :lol

The image of Viazon and his equally odd mates all sat outside the supermarket eating chicken together in the car is too much :lol

There are only a handful of acting performances that have made me cry. Now two of them have been Will Smith. The other being after his father leaves him again on "Fresh Prince".

I don't even know where to begin. It was just wow. I have three kids and while my wife is around, we don't have money. I have never been that broke but we have been damn close. Things are still tight but it isn't easy. I know what it feels like to pour out every drop of sweat, blood and tears for your kids. Will Smith played this of amazingly. That this is based on a true story only makes it more powerful. One of the best media portrayals of what being a parent truly means. I honestly can't express how it made me feel. I just know I would do anything for my boys.

I love this movie because I'll admit, I am a bit of a sucked for the fight against the odds feel good kind of story. I wouldn't consider it one of Smiths greatest compared to some of the other things he has been in but I still highly enjoyed. I would say this is one of his better performances though. There is just so much emotion to it and you really feel for him. That scene near the end when he is told he has the job and tries not to cry and some of the best acting I have seen and one of the most feel good movies scenes I have scene. Great job byt the good old Fresh Prince.

I remember when I saw this for the first time, and it was very paint by the numbers, manufactured emotion to tug at the heart strings and I wasn't entirely invested. Then the kid dropped his Captain America doll, which resonated with me for reasons I'm sure repressed childhood memories had something to do with. I was a little more invested after that and saw through the layer of superficiality surrounding the film. Will Smith can turn it on when he wants and gave a very strong performance. The fact his character's son was played by his real life son certainly added a little something that otherwise wouldn't have been there. My only major criticism is it's not entirely subtle about what it's trying to do, designed to draw an emotion from the viewer without earning it through the performance or strength of the writing/directing what have you.

A fantastic film that really pull at your heartstrings! Smith is awesome in most of his films, but this one really got to me. What can i say, I'm a big baby when it comes to films that try and make you cry! I think its got some great elements of comedy and drama, with the ending beautiful and chroming. Just an all around great film!
