He's already played Lex Luthor. An extremely intelligent, smug, borderline-sociopathic billionaire? Sounds a lot like Mark Zuckerberg to me. I want a young Luthor who is just the smartest guy in the room and he KNOWS IT. He's not going to beat you up, he's got people to do it for him, and as this squirrelly kid compared to Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, he's an underestimated threat.

I absolutely love this decision. Now if only this production can hire a writer.

Exactly. But again, we need a much better script for this, and actually, a bit more visual freedom for Zack Snyder!

Most of my problems with Man of Steel came from the script and the direction. And the more I think about the direction, it strikes me more and more as being the product of a studio mandate to be "more like Batman". But the script was just atrocious. It was lifeless, a lot of it didn't make sense (What the F*CK, Pa Kent?!), and the third act felt like they completely ran out of ideas. It was Action Scene, bad joke, Action Scene, kiss (in a crater where several heavily-populated buildings used to be), Action Scene, bad joke, CREDITS.

Man of Steel was a total failure of pacing and a train wreck of bad decisions. It was the most disappointing movie of last year and the most frustrating movie because it was a few choices away from being really good.

Eh, I don't like this casting at all. I know he can play intelligent, smug and rich. But he needs to do something more than that to play a really engaging villain. A good villain should be intimidating and menacing, and I don't believe Eisenberg can play that character. Probably because almost all of his characters come off the same.

Add that to the weird Wonder Woman and Batman castings, and this film is starting to look downright bizarre. People always make reference to Heath Ledger's Joker when these casting conversations come up, saying that nobody thought he was a good choice either. But for starters, Ledger had previously demonstrated the ability to completely transform himself in a role, which these others have not done. And also, a wild card casting is one thing, but a movie filled with them is quite another. It's just going to get weird in a hurry.

Also, is Zack Snyder really the director to try and pull interesting performances out of this cast? He's not a director with a lot of vision when it comes to these things, he has a tendency to interpret his source material very literally and doesn't add a lot of nuance to his storytelling. I don't believe he can take a film that looks like a mess on paper and turn it into something good. I think what the film looks like on paper is really the best you can hope for with Snyder.

The whole attempt to copy the Avengers here seems really lazy and desperate also. They haven't invested the proper time or effort into creating something on that scale and now they're rushing it and you can definitely tell. I'd be surprised if the film didn't turn into kind of a jumbled mess.

lol, someone made a joke that the producer/agent or whatever for the film told Zack Snyder "Let's get Heisenburg!" and Snyder was like "Eisenberg? Yeah, let's get Eisenberg!" and he made the call as the producer was desperately trying to tell him that's not what he said.
