Punk refused the handshake, which was a bit of a dick move.

I've heard this is very much a nothing show outside of this match, so the buy rate for this pay per view should be a good indication of what Punk's individual drawing power is in 2016. I'm interested in the fight if only for that.

There's so much money in a Punk WWE return if both sides could swallow their pride.

He's said he doesn't ever want to go back though. It's not a case of swallowing his pride, it's that he doesn't care about wrestling anymore and has closed that chapter in his life. In an interview with Ariel Helwani the other day he said he was grateful to have the opportunity to pursue his passion of martial arts, sleep in his own bed every night, spend time at home with his wife, and said he physically felt the best he's ever been. Why would he throw that all away to go back to a company who made him miserable?

He's actually in really good shape. I was expecting him to look like death at the weigh ins but he's still got a healthy amount of body fat on him and he didn't look dehydrated. Welterweight was definitely the right decision.

I'd disagree tbh, on the behaviour of him refusing the handshake. Gall has offered his hand to Punk previously which the latter has accepted and now it's fight time so don't blame him for refusing it on the basis of being focused but also, might be Gall trying to play some sort of mind game so no beef on Punk IMO for ignoring that. Some of his interviews I've seen this week he has been less jovial and more bullish.

Fair enough, if he wants to be done that's all well and good. I still think we haven't seen the last of CM Punk in a pro wrestling ring. But I could be wrong. I'm just saying in some alternate universe where they could make nice it has the potential to be beneficial to both sides. Maybe Punk makes more money for less dates and travel or something.

Punk hates the travel and fell out of love with wrestling, so really it seems the only reason he'd go back is the money. It doesn't matter if he is set up for life or not, there's probably a figure that he wouldn't be able to refuse. But I'm not really hoping for him to go back, because I'd rather see someone motivated and who's willing to show up and perform to the highest level every week. Which isn't to say I blame him for not wanting that lifestyle anymore. But if he's so strongly against it, then maybe it's better for all concerned that he's gone right now.

Punk could definitely be a draw for WWE if he returned, but honestly giving him the big push now would be at least five years too late. Which I guess would be a very WWE move.

Well he walked into UFC because of his name and nothing else and received a massive push with a reality show and a spot on a main UFC card with absolutely no fighting experience of any kind. So he already has become what he hated :P
