I managed to catch the last half an hour or so, it was really entertaining. Two disallowed goals in two minutes was crazy. Hope Solo was doing some strange goalkeeping in the shootout though, a couple of times she just ran to one side without actually diving. It did pay off once though.

I'd have liked to have seen the USA go through, but alas.

Olympic boxing is so bad, holy shit.

Just watched a women's flyweight contest between Colombia and Central African Republic. Colombia scraped her with the softest punch I've ever seen and the ref did the 10 count, then a minute later Colombia gently scraped her again and the ref stopped the fight.

The CAF lady wad absolutely fine, she was never in any trouble. It's like the ref didn't know that they're actually supposed to hit each other.

PHELPS IS A PHONY! A BIG FAT SILVER-WINNING PHONY!

Nah, but really, he has 22 Gold Medals already, swimming's undisputed GOAT, I think he'll be all right.

How about Katie Ledecky, though? SMASHING that 800m World Record!

I knew it, because it's really the only Olympic event that the Irish are competitive in. :lol We won a few medals for boxing at London 2012, including at least one gold.

Oh, that and horse racing. We usually do well at that too.

Come on dude, I thought you'd know that considering The Greatest won an gold medal in Rome 1960!

But, the only issue I've been made to keep an eye on has not even been at the Olympics directly but from that fruit loop Piers Morgan who suggested anything but gold was a failure but what the hell does he know..

Hope Solo claimed the opponents were cowards so nice to see she's taking defeat well!

Caught some of the Canadian vs French womens football match the other night. You would have figured that the French would have the better looking women but damn, some of those Canadians were fine.

What a day so far for Team GB. Massive medal day sees us overtake China in the medal table. Max Whitlock and Justin Rose the standouts. Hopefully Murray follows suit.

Mo Farah winning last night after falling over was brilliant.

There's big controversy at the moment about fight fixing in the boxing. An Irish guy lost to a Russian opponent by unanimous decision in a match that seemingly everyone else thought should have been awarded to the Irishman. Apparently the judges and refs from this match and some of the others have been removed from the tournament. And word is now that the Russian who went through over the Irish dude is so injured from the match that he can't continue to the next round, so his semi-final opponent is getting a walk through into the final. Seems a bit farcical. Has anyone been watching any of the boxing?

Some were comparing it to Roy Jones Jr from 1988.

The USA just took all three medals in the Women's 100 Meter Hurdles. That was unbelievable.

Only story that's caught my interest recently has been the now discredited report by swimmer Ryan Lochte and three other mates of his alleging they had been robbed at gunpoint in Rio and had their possessions taken. Lochte gave a macho account of the incident and now he's sloped off back to the US whilst the rest are gearing up to face investigators.

It turns out the reason for the whole charade was because they had women in their car and they didn't want their girlfriends to know about it. Well, they do now!

Rio has taken a battering at times but shit like this doesn't help, primarily the behaviour of the people involved.
