Cleveland Cavaliers fire David Blatt

Postby RatedRBowler » Jan 23, '16, 12:13 am

The Cavs, who are 30-11 and in first place in the East, have fired their coach. Wtf? I mean, I know they didn't look particularly great against the Spurs and they got bounced at home by the Warriors but this is still pretty bizzare.

So the main two arguments are either Ty Lue had more control and respect and a part tried playing favorites or Lebron wanted Ty Lue.

Also apparently half the Cavs thought Kevin Love was traded.

This is Cleveland. When in doubt fire the coach.

Reports are coming out that LeBron wasn't consulted, so the theory that LeBron wanted him out seems to be wrong. This has to be a first, right? For an NBA coach who has his team at the conference's top spot to be fired at this poitn int he season?

Reports locally are also that LeBron didn't need to be consulted. Anybody that's ever watched much Cavs basketball over the last two seasons can see that LeBron and the rest of the players have never respected David Blatt or bought into what he believes in. He wants to run the Princeton offense, the players on the court refuse to run the Princeton offense, for example. Also, there's many shots of LeBron during timeouts ignoring him or actually being the one to draw up plays taking all of his authority.

I'm sure that is what the Cavaliers would want people to believe.

There is no way LeBron James, at the very least, didn't have an influence on this decision.

This. You don't remove a winning coach without consulting your best player and main money maker. This is all a coverup so Lebron doesn't become a villain ala Miami.

LeBron James: Player, coach, and GM. Soon to be part owner once he retires.

But on a serious note, this was an incredibly stupid move. I mean if you want to fire David Blatt, fine but you're going to replace him with Ty Lue and offer him a multi year contract? Why not bring in someone like Tom Thibodeau who could at least make you a defensive force against the competitive teams like the Warriors and Spurs? The Cavs still played ISO ball against the Bulls with Lue as the coach. This is just a disaster for the Cavs.
