George Groves vs Carl Froch - May 31st, Wembley Stadium

Ànybody else looking forward to this like I am? Their first encounter was full on controversy. Although Groves dominated for pretty much the first seven rounds (albeit the judges had it differently), Froch managed to mount a comeback and win by TKO in the ninth round in what, undoubtedly, was a premature stoppage (though it cannot be argued that Froch didn't hurt Groves during that round either).

This has all the potential to be the fight of the year this time. Froch was not prepared last time in my opinion. He didn't know how to deal with Groves in the build up to their previous fight and he seemed to under estimate his skills and power in the ring also. I think Froch will learn from this mistake and avoid any public appearences involving Groves when possible (Froch pushed Groves during their first media appearence announcing the fight, I don't think we will be seeing them together until the press conference/weigh in). I also think he will prepare himself more to adapt to Groves this time also. This will make him a much more dangerous fighter in the rematch.

Groves, on the other hand, is a very smart and skilled boxer would good knockout power. In my opinion, I don't think he will get to Froch as much this time during the build up as I feel Froch will avoid him. But I do think he will also improve from their previous encounter. Groves, at times, was extremely careless, allowing Froch to hit him with power shots at times when he should have stepped back and used his speed to beat Froch to the punch. I think Groves will be more cautious this time around to avoid Froch from landing big shots like he did towards the last couple of rounds of the last fight.

Myself, I cannot wait for the fight and still think it is hard to predict. If Froch is prepared mentally and lands big shots in the early stages he could have Groves out of there within three rounds. However, Groves is a dangerous challenger. He is a much better and more disciplined boxer who can use his speed to beat Froch to exchanges. If I was to make a prediction, I would probably go with Groves by Unanimous Decision.

Anyone else looking forward to the fight?
