Teams that have self destructed because of the media?

Postby DanielsonTHAGOAT » Dec 22, '13, 1:25 pm

Watching the Redskins season unfold this season in football has been very interesting. It made me think about teams that have been pressured by the media or affected by it. Can you think of any other teams that have self destructed because of the media?

Another team that comes to my mind is the Miami Heat in their first year with the Big 3. If they didn't win a title in their first year, they were considered a bust.

Chiefs do good until they get some spotlight, then they fall apart. Is that what you mean?

The Redskins self-destructed because they played a real schedule and simply aren't a good team. There's little more to it than that. Yes they had a lot of media attention because of RG3 and unrealistic expectations but that's not the teams fault that they were never good enough to remotely live up to them.

I don't know if the media did them in but it's been a big blast watching the multi-year self-destruction of the Jets especially after their playoff runs and media hype.

2008 Dallas Cowboys.

Just look at the highlight video at the start of that which detailed their season. Never have seen a team more dysfunctional and mainly because of the whole "BFF" storyline between Owens, Romo, and Witten.

And the last game in Texas Stadium was the funniest shit ever. Le'Ron freakin' McClain busted off 2 straight 60+ yard touchdowns to win the game. LE'RON MCCLAIN!"
