Haye v Bellew

Postby AkydefGoldberg » Feb 28, '17, 12:41 pm

This fight is on Saturday.

The quality of the "debate" between Haye v Bellew on Gloves Are Off was akin to two guys in a pub having a slanging match before scrapping. The actual fight itself won't surprise us unless it goes past 2/3 rounds.

Both guys aren't likeable to the point it's grating that one of them has to win but I'm going for Haye as it keeps on track a fight I would like to see and that's Joshua v Haye

It depends what version of Haye shows up, really. Haye at his best can defeat Bellew at his best.

I can't stand either of them so I'm hoping for a double knockout. I'd like to see Haye vs AJ as well though so I suppose I should root for him, even though it hurts to admit that.

The fight was cautious until rd 6 that Bellew was edging it but after that it was horrendous viewing whilst admiring Haye's bravery in trying to keep going whilst fighting on one leg and Bellew struggling to stop him.

Hyperbole listening to comments about "great heavyweight fight", a "classic" and it was one guy (Bellew) against an opponent who was hopping around for the rest of the fight. And no, it wasn't a great upset as it was described on Sky Box Office. The love-in post-fight was puke worthy.

Eddie Hearn getting blown off by Bellew as he and Coldwell over enthusiastically celebrated the fight was the best part of the night.

Haye should now retire, Bellew go back to cruiserweight and no rematch.

Despite losing the first round Haye was comfortably winning the fight until he did his leg. Happy for Bellew though; Haye is a knob.

Watch Haye's right foot here. Something definitely snapped:

Yeah, looks damn painful if he's done his Achilles.

I thought Bellew was doing enough to be ahead and Haye was rushing wildly aiming for the KO probably knowing his Achilles was sore and would end up preventing him. Bellew this morning saying "I broke my hand" goes counter to what he told Haye pre-fight about having no excuses or no injuries if he lost. Sounds like he's throwing out an excuse why he couldn't stop a bloke on one leg. Alternatively, the referee should have stopped the fight as Haye was barely responding.

After the hugs and love post-fight after the first battle, Haye and Bellew II will try to convince us all that they really, REALLY don't like each other. I'll be taking steps to avoid the incessant coverage on Sky and Matchroom hyping it up. I'd say Bellew wins as the Achilles and previous injuries have taken too much out of him.

I'm so done with David Haye. I hope Bellew wrecks him.

A double knock-out would be great and fitting for both men.
