I really wanted to see the Pirates make it. I see the Dodgers making the World Series. I think a Dodgers/Red Sox World Series is what we'll see with LA winning it. I think Oakland wins tonight. Playoffs have been good so far, but too many blowouts. Hope we get some close games in the Championship Series.

At this point I favor an Oakland vs LA World Series, but I'm not sure we'll see either of those team make it.

Boston with their extended rest and either tigers or the A's having to start a new series right away, i feel like Boston has a great chance to make it to the big show once again. Im thinking its going to be Boston VS LA Dodgers and that would be a pretty awesome WS considering half of the 2012 Redsox team is on the Dodgers this year.

Yeah A's over Dodgers would suit me just fine. I always liked the A's there are sort of my AL team, but I don't care enough to bandwagon them. Phucking Phillies,

Tigers take the early lead with a homerun by Cabrera. A 2-0 lead might be all Verlander needs. We'll see.

JV was dominant. Miggy was Miggy. Sonny Gray has a hell of a future, but you can't make a mistake against the best hitter in baseball.

Dodgers have no chance now. Especially with Wainright on the mound for game 3. Also that Detroit/Sox game was great. Crazy how two good offenses were just totally shut down.

Pitching is definetly the theme of the ALCS and NLCS so far. Wacha and Sanchez were beasts. Losing on a Kershaw start is huge blow, but if LA can win at home Kershaw will show up again.

After all the high scoring Division Series games, im glad to see pitching being prominent here so far.

Agreed. These games have been so tense waiting to see when that first big hit will come. Also as a Tiger fan I have to hope pitching continues to be the theme.

I feel totally cheated. I can't believe Leyland didn't walk Ortiz. Ortiz has made a career out of clutch hits. Napoli was the guy you wanted to face. Awful.

Re: Official MLB Playoffs Thread

Postby westcoast619 » Oct 14, '13, 2:10 am

The Tigers are really the only team I'll feel happy about winning the World Series. The Cardinals have gotten on my nerves a few times the past few years. I'm a Rockies fan so naturally hate the Dodgers, and then I still haven't gotten over 2007, so naturally hate the Red Sox as well. I'm hoping the Tigers bullpen can hold up this postseason, because with the way the rest of the team is playing, especially their starting pitchers, that'll be the only thing that could possibly stop them from winning it all.

Oh and Big Papi, the only Red Sox player I like, is just insane in the clutch. I don't think we will see another player be that clutch in a long time.

Leyland didn't do a perfect job managing, but last night wasn't completely his fault either. Smyly walking a batter after being up 1-2 and Benoit giving Papi a fastball down the plate is not Leyland's fault. The pitchers in the bullpen are grown men who didn't do their job.

Still, Benoit is known for giving up homers. Why put him in against a clutch monster with power like Ortiz with the bases loaded? At least walk him. Don't put your pitcher (who isn't even a real closer) in that kind of situation. Just my two cents.
