Review of the PubTalk Design

Postby Everlong » Jan 26, '15, 6:18 pm

Hey guys,

Thought it'd be a good idea to get a little feedback about the current design of the site. It's been the same for about 14 months now, but I don't think we ever really intended to keep it exactly the same forever.

So: general thoughts. Likes/dislikes? What would you change if you could? Should we look into doing tweaks or a design overhaul at some point in 2015?

Thanks! :tim

Get rid of the creepy deer, put the user control panel on the left. Maybe change the colours from the brown.

I'd say scrap the Christmas decorations, it's time. We don't want to be those people that still have Christmas decorations up on Valentine's Day. Move the controls menu to the left. I'm not bothered by the current color scheme, but if you are looking for something a bit different, some sort of color theme with a hardwood pattern would look nice and fit our theme.

I will say that if I wasn't familiar with the place I would think this is outdoor/hunting website. The deer and the dark brown color kind of show this. Granted the main page does have football and wrestling all over it. I would maybe really embrace the Pub talk feel.

How much do you know about CSS/design coding? @Romo

Also, it'd be more than just reworking the design, you'd have to deal with coding all the forum modifications as well if we were to change the template of the site. And @Locke knows just how much of a pain in the ass that is :lol

Change the colour scheme (I'd be for changing our entire gimmick, but that can't be done currently). Browns and yellows were never a good idea.

I wouldn't mind seeing avatars being switched to the left. It's not like I hate avatars being on the right, but the left just makes more sense to me.

I also wouldn't mind a dark page like WWE-Club, but by the sounds of things I'm in the minority on this.

A change of colour scheme would be good. And the background and header images aren't great either. I've never been a big fan. I quite like the site layout though and I actually have no problem with the avatars being on the right of the screen. It took a little getting used to, but I like it now.

I think I'd be more apt to change the color scheme than do a full-on template/design change, because it'd be a whole hell of a lot easier :lol

What colors would people want to see?

Actually once the Seahawks win the Superbowl it's only fitting we change it to green and blue.
