So good news: We've gotten our hands on hosting, which means that we can begin the process of moving everything on this site to our own private domain. This will give us a lot of awesome benefits, such as way more phpbb customization options, including more customization for how this place looks and a sweet new chat. It also will make it significantly easier to market.
I think we're going with the domain "theXYforum.com" or "theXYforums.com", because XYforum is taken and XYclub sounds kind of like a gay bar
. If you have a strong preference of S or no S, let us know. I'd probably lean toward including the S. We'll let you know before we migrate these forums over to our new domain, but just know that nothing should change immediately about the site except the URL. We will be able to bring the board as it is over to our hosting. We will also probably be able to redirect the old URL to the new one. Once we've got it all migrated and set up, then Locke is going to begin the process of pimping this place out.
ALSO: we're going to be a new site with a new theme, which means we need new logos. If anyone wants to take on the challenge of creating a logo for The XY Forums, feel free to whip up a couple things and put them in here. We're going to be a general men's interests site, with a primary focus on sports and wrestling, in case that factors in to your design ideas.
Finally, once we've got this set up we're going to finally kick our marketing into gear. We want to get some new blood into this place, and the best way to do that will be through social media. If you know anyone that you think would be interested in the place, feel free to send them an invite - but also feel free to shill for us on Twitter once we've got our new URL
