Apparently WWE-Club.com is going up for auction

Postby Everlong » Aug 12, '17, 12:58 pm

I got an email from Bryan saying he's getting rid of some of the domain names he's no longer using, including WWE-Club.com. Apparently he still gets traffic from that domain pointed at vegasnews.

Maybe I'll check it out. Just thought it was kinda funny.

Let's buy it. I'll happily chuck in a bit of cash.

That's interesting. That domain name might be better for generating new traffic than the one we're using at the moment. If you wanted to buy it, I'd be happy to chip in.

Nice to see that Bryan has chilled out a bit over the last few years. It was good of him to give you the heads up. Selling the name to you would benefit him too of course, but even still.

How often has Bryan contacted you since the old ship sank? You should send him a pic of my avatar and ask him if that rings a bell.

Just a couple times.

Most recently, he said he'd considered putting the old site back up recently to help people reconnect, but he hasn't had the time and is in poor health. He said he thinks he has the database files lying around that I would be able to use, but he has to find the backup disc/drive they're saved on. So, there's the potential we'd be able to get back a whole lot of lost history.

If we get WWE-Club back can we add my current post tally with my old post tally so I can finally become a HOF'er?

Happy to chuck some monies in!

Yup, I'd be happy to throw in some coins if it helps.

Nice of Bryan to give you the heads up.

Before we all throw in some money or what not. Do we have an idea of a realistic price it will go for?

It's an auction right? Is there a reserve? IdK what the demand for the URL would be. It's hard to gauge a price I'm assuming.

Let me call in a buddy of mine who is an expert in old pro wrestling forum domain names to take a look at it.

I bought the domain from Bryan :tim

Now I'll see about getting the database files and see if we can restore a whole lot of lost history.

Re: Apparently WWE-Club.com is going up for auction

So Bryan sent me the database files for WWE-Club.com. This means I now have access to everything.

It'll take about a week or so for my hosting service to process the domain transfer over to my name/my hosting, so for now we just play the waiting game. In the mean time, I'll try to investigate if there is any reasonable way for me to combine two databases into one site.

Basically the options here are:

-Reopen wwe-club.com, update the forum software and start posting there again.
-Reopen wwe-club.com just long enough to get in contact with all members and send out messages to tell them to come here.
-Figure out a way to combine squaredcircle.net and wwe-club.com and point all wwe-club.com traffic here.
-Figure out a way to combine squaredcircle.net and wwe-club.com and point all squaredcircle.net traffic there.

Right now, I think the options I'd be most likely to do in order (if possible) are 4, 2, 3, 1. But again, I have no idea what is possible/how much work each option would be as of yet.

I watch very little WWE these days outside of the Takeover shows and the occasional pay per view, but I still think going back to the WWE-Club name is a good idea. It's likely to get more traffic and it increases the likelihood that old names might pop back in.

I'd just be grateful to see some old posts again - I'm a sucker for nostalgia and I really hope we can see those memories again.

I think re-opening WWE-Club would be a good idea, and contacting the old members. It would be a bit of a long shot, but hopefully one or two familiar names would find their way back. I imagine it would receive a lot more traffic too.

I'm more interested if any of those locked/deleted threads can be recovered. :lol

I know it's a long shot. I remember when I used to admin a forum we would move all those "deleted" threads to a private/hidden section, were all the admins and mods could view them for the "lulz".
