So there's an island off of Ireland's coast that's on sale for 140,000 pounds or 211,000 US dollars. Any takers? Should we all go in and own it together? Create our own country? :P

The housing market here is pretty terrible. The average age for a first-time buyer now is 38.

Well if my family sells our home we can afford almost 2 of the islands. Damn I housing market in Toronto is so damn high :(

What's the point of even owning an island like that? It's rocky as hell, so you probably can't farm on it too well to help sustain yourself. Building a house there and covering/transporting all your necessities would be insanely expensive. And at the end of that all you get is a cold, crappy, island to do nothing on, and not much to look at. Also this, "The island is in a very remote area and is only accessible via helicopter or boat... when the weather conditions are right"

Fair enough, but it could make for a killer vacation get away home if you are into that type of vacation.
