Where do you fall politically?

I am pretty liberal and I am a registered Democrat.

It's harder for me to categorize myself these days considering Democrat is starting to get farther and farther left while Republican is getting farther and farther right, while everyone in the middle basically gets forgotten about despite being the majority. It's a really strange trend here in America; seems like everyone is so hell-bent on making it a war between two sides. Maybe people just want to believe there are only two sides to every issue.

Anyway, it really depends on the issue for me. Socially I'm pretty liberal. Environmentally I'm fairly liberal. Economically, depends on what we're talking about.

In years past I'd have classified myself as a libertarian, but the Libertarian party (much like the Republican party) has been hijacked by Tea Party nutjobs, so I don't really want anything to do with that label any more, haha.

This is also my position.

Our two biggest parties in Ireland are both right wing, unfortunately. Then there's the Labour Party, which is supposedly more left leaning but they are so wishy-washy and have done so little of what they promised since entering the coalition government that it's hard to take them at face value now. Any other left leaning party in the country is kinda crazy and/or has been affiliated with the IRA.

So it's an embarrassment of riches over here, folks.

Vaguely surprised that you haven't heard of the IRA, Tim. They're referenced on American television all the time. Basically if you see someone evil and Irish on television they're supposed to be in the IRA or formerly in the IRA.
