Anyone good with pixel art/sprite making?

I have an idea for my next avatar that I'll use with the sig I'm making. I, however, really suck at pixel art. Rather, I used to be great at pixel art back in the 1024x768 resolution days, but now everything is so high def that I can make an awesome sprite/pixel dude and then can't see it when I zoom to regular viewing.

So, anyone particularly good at this? Say, editing like an SNES character, por ejemplo.
