On Fedoras

Postby Ali » Feb 14, '14, 11:18 pm

Okay, I'm a little tired of the "Fedora Neckbeard" stereotype, so let's set the record straight.

Image

Not clear yet? Okay. This is someone in a fedora.

Image

This is a douchebag. Notice he is wearing a trilby.

Image

So to get this straight, neckbeard douchebags more often wear trilby hats. They are taller and their brims are not as wide as fedoras. Fedoras typically have a band around the hat, and they are more often pinched.

Now, I'm not saying that these are mutually exclusive. There can be cool guys in trilbies and douchenozzles in fedoras, to be sure. I'm just saying that most of the time, if you see a neckbeard, he's in a trilby and not a fedora.

Go for it. :lol

Funny thing is, I don't own a fedora OR a Trilby. I have considered a fedora, but I can not pull it off and I would look exactly like the stereotype. I'm more of a knit cap/baseball cap man, myself.

I will fully admit to owning a pair of douchebag Oakley sunglasses, however.

Even fedoras look bad on anyone that wasn't alive in the 50's. They just aren't in style anymore.

Can we at least determine if there's a specific type of Tapout short or Oakleys here?

Honestly, the Oakleys might just be the fact that I look like a tool in them, what with the big lens wraparound look.

But they're expensive and people tend to brag about having them.

Well the problem is that so many people these days pair them with regular clothes like t-shirts or button downs, when back in their heyday they were meant to be coordinated with suits.

Oh I agree but even now I just have a problem with hats with suits. I see hats even fedoras as to casual for suits.
