Best party games

Postby Everlong » Feb 20, '15, 4:56 pm

So you've got your standard drinking games, but these days my friends and I don't really play a whole lot of those any more. In college, basically every party would have beer pong, flip cup, quarters, slap cup, bull moose, circle of death, those kinds of games.

These days I'm more about games like Mafia or (similarly) the Resistance (the Coup and Avalon versions), which are pretty awesome if you guys have never played them. You also can't go wrong with a rousing game of Cards Against Humanity.

What about ya'll?

I play a lot of board games now. Which might sound boring, but fuck it we have fun with it anyway.

I really enjoy 'Gloom'. It's a beautifully drawn and designed card game, where each player controls their own family and the aim of the game is to make their own family as miserable as possible and then kill them, while trying to make their opponents families happier. There are specific mechanics to the game which are a lot of fun, but you also get to try and tell a story with the moves you're making at the same time, explaining exactly what's supposed to be happening to each of the characters. So much fun.

The DC deck building games are a lot of fun too, I'd recommend checking those out.

'Taboo' is an oldie but a goodie. When you have a lot of nerdy friends, it gets much more fun. When you're using wrestling references or video game references or grunge/metal references for all of your clues, things can get a lot more interesting.
