What do you like/dislike most about your country's culture?

USA

Like: I feel like as a whole, we're a very warm and welcoming people. This varies a bit by region, but for the most part people here are more than happy to talk to complete strangers about their days, their interests, etc. A lot of other countries, you'd get strange looks if you attempted to talk to someone in public that you didn't know.

Dislike: Probably the divisive nature of our politics. Both sides are moving farther and farther away from center and it causes a lot of hostility during election seasons.

- Binge drinking
- Underage pregnancy (we have the largest number of underage pregnancies in Europe)
- Chavs
- Ingrained racism stemming from British colonisation

like:
culture variety, so many states, so many cultures. influences from all over the world.
food variety (kinda similar to the culture bit though)

Likes: For the most part the freedom and variety of people that we have.

Dislikes: The selfishness and greed that runs rampant and divides the country.

I dislike the occasional backwardness.

The NHS, despite it's flaws.

Dislikes:
The sex abuse stories and cover ups that have come to light over the past few years with probably more to follow.
The TV licence fee.
The ever increasing gap between the rich and the working classes thanks to the divide and conquer attitude of the government.

I like the freedom to do almost anything you want MOST of the time (within reason).

Dislike the dirty politics, American arrogance and overall ignorance to other countries/issues. Also most teenagers in this country are morons.

Likes:
The diversity, both in culture and in geology/topography/climate. We have temperate rain forests, dry deserts, humid swamps, tall, snow-capped mountains, volcanoes, SUPER volcanoes & fields (Yellowstone, love it) rocky coasts, sandy coasts, pine forests, hardwood forests, prairies... basically everything. And that is just the continental U.S.


Dislikes:
The general population's tendency to be hypocritical about our founding principles. (e.g. freedom of religion). It is seriously sickening that our country has such a large portion of the population that throws a fit when something isn't "god-fearing" and "in "'Merican!!". (Think Superbowl Coke commercial that cause such unnecessary outrage).

The political divide that allows NOTHING to get done, not because they have polarizing views, but because they want to disagree because agreeing with someone of the opposing party is "crazy", even if they all want the same thing.
