What was the poorest you'd ever been? How'd you get out of it?

I was down to my last $100 a couple different times right after I moved into my first apartment after graduating from college. I probably wasn't making enough to merit having moved out, but I couldn't wait any longer to get away from my parents' place. Fortunately, my job soon started giving me more work and I was able to start making more and more money, but I was definitely eating a lot of Ramen for a while!

Back in 2008, I lost my job because the store I worked in closed down. I still lived at home so didn't need to pay rent or anything, but it was in my hey day of going out with my friends every weekend and getting drunk. Not being able to do that was a nightmare. I had some money saved in my bank but it obviously wasn't going to last long. I had a huge collection of WWE DVDs. As my interest in WWE had started to decrease during that time, I sold a few DVDs every month of eBay. I got some decent money from it and it really helped me get by quite a bit. But I ran out of them eventually. I was down to literally my last £50 when I finally found a job.

Think we've been down to our last £50 or around that mark. last year we were stuck with a car on finance that we couldn't get rid of until we had paid half the balance. It was sitting on the driveway not being used for the whole year because the insurance was crazy expensive and we couldn't afford to insure 2 cars. Plus the monthly payments were crippling us, luckily I had saved a lot before we moved out so could dip into it as and when but the pot starting to get low around Christmas time so that was a strain. My oh bought the car before we had responsibilities so could afford it back then but our situation changed and we were stuck with it. We finally got rid of the car in February of this year and it's been such a weight off my shoulders.

eBay is really good for this.

I had so much unnecessary stuff around my room - old t-shirts that I didn't wear anymore, books I probably wouldn't read again, etc. I thought I'd flog them for a few quid - a lot of the time I got maybe 2 or 3 pounds for, but it all piles up. I made an Excel document of my profits and since I started selling about a year ago, I've made about £200 - not bad when you consider I was just flogging my old stuff.

Umm... I have less than $10 right now. LOL! Life of a grad student...

I deal with it.... I should be getting paid but my boss forgot to submit payroll annnnnddd.... yeah... that happened. *sigh* They are cutting me an adjustment check that I have to mail in to my bank so it will take a week longer to get my pay. Great.

I don't know how I get out of it. It seems everytime I get ahead I have something come up ($1200 on new tires.... $1000 to get problem wisdom teeth removed....$260 electric bill because the temps dipped to single digits one month...Blah)

When I was in college, I was applying for loads of PT jobs with no response and was skint. My wardrobe was poor, and my only money that came in was during Eid (Islamic festival, similiar to Christmas) when I'd get money and IIRC used it on something important and much needed.......a latest copy of Smackdown vs. RAW!

I was incredibly relieved when I left college and Uni arrived, namely the loans pinging into my bank account!

As of this point the worst I have been off was shortly after getting married to @Shaneofan We were both working full time but there never seemed to be enough to pay all the bills in one month. It was okay so how long can we hold out on the electric? if we pay this now what can't we pay? We also got pregnant with our first child around the same time and had all of those bills to juggle too... We did eventually climb out through a little help from our family. Shane's father actually opened up his home to us to stay there till we could get back on our feet.
