Any high school regrets?

Postby War Daddy » May 06, '14, 7:52 am

I dont have many, but my biggest one would have to be not playing more than 2 years of football. I did track and wrestling all 4 years, so naturally I thought I was content. However, I came out my junior year and had 60 tackles, 12 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries, and 2 touchdowns as an interior d-lineman. I came back out my senior where we posted the best season since 1978. My stats were solid across the board both years, but I cant help but feel like I would have played all 4 years then MAYBE I wouldve had a shot at college ball. Guts me from time to time.

Another was at regionals in wrestling when I was up 9-1 in the match and got FUCKING STUFFED ON A CRADLE. Fuck my life, fuck my life. Came from nowhere, I dont even understand :lol

How bout you?

I regret a few things, but mainly I regret my behavior towards some people. I acted like a prick to at least one person in particular who didn't deserve it, thinking I was being funny WITH when it turned out it was AT. I definitely could have toned it down a bit.

Things like that, I regret. Other things not so much because I feel it lead to my happiness today. It would have been fun to be more involved but I don't necessarily like burning all my free-time for other people, so maybe it's good that I did things the way I did.

I have a few regrets from my high school years. I was a member of the "paint crew" which designed and painted sets for our productions and I LOVED it. I was afraid to join as a freshman or a sophomore because it was made of a crowd that my parents didn't like. In Junior year though I joined it in spite of my parents and had a blast staying everyday I could until the paint dried. I felt at home covered in paint and saw dust exchanging dirty jokes and innuendo I just wish I would've had more time in that. The of my regrets actually focus around my dating history with guys who would hurt me physically, emotionally, and sexually... I wish I would've smarted up sooner then maybe I would have less scars and baggage.

I was extremely cautious in high school, if I could do it again I would be more free flowing and experience things. I am starting to now, when I could have a lot earlier.

People don't realize how much high school means squat until its over and they have moved on.

Being a social hermit, as I was really shy and embarrassed. Felt I could have made a lot more friends if I was confident. Also, not asking this girl to prom and we both ended up going alone. I was shallow and didn't think she was super hot so I didn't want to go with her. What an asshole. :banghead

There's not really much I regret. I guess if I was to do it all over again, I'd try to take things a bit less seriously. But then I didn't really take things all that seriously the first time around. Also, I'd have a serious think about what I wanted to do in college because I really didn't know or care all the way through school and therefore just picked a random college course when I graduated. It ended up being a waste of time.

I do have one more specific regret actually. In my final year of school, I tried to ask a girl to go with me to "the debs", which is our prom. She found out that I was going to ask her and then kept avoiding me. I thought that was immature: if someone has the guts to ask you out, you should at least have the guts to turn them down. My opinion of her plummeted, but for some reason I still wanted an answer. Even though I knew I wouldn't get the one I had originally wanted. And while trying to get my answer, I passed up an opportunity to ask someone else - someone who actually seemed to want to go with me. I was going to ask her once the weird business with the first girl had concluded, but things didn't work out that way. It was a really stupid decision on my part.

Like SKS said, I wished I'd had the ability that maybe I have now of taking the piss outta myself. There were some situations where I let other people dictate and wished I'd laughed at them and brushed it off but I reverted into my shell.

Other than that, I wished I'd taken more better use of the library and read books more regularly. Not related to my subjects but do what I do now, just read on different subjects.

Oh, and not groping any of the hot female teachers I had but I obviously wouldn't have the balls to do that but just fun to imagine.

I would've tried to get the best of my crippling depression sooner, so I wouldn't shank my Leaving Cert so badly (and so I could've spent that time being happy, of course).

Being too conservative.

I had the opportunity there and then to 'do it' with this person I liked for so long and I just didn't make the move. :banghead

In retrospect, it wasn't too bad, I guess, since other events unfolded, but still.

Looking back school, especially the last couple of years were the best years of my life. Would love to go back and relive those days again. I really don't have many regrets, except maybe my lack of confidence and self esteem when it came to the opposite sex.

I regret getting booted out of sixth form but only because it meant the end of my laid back life. In high school I wish I'd tried harder, such a typical answer I know but I got really good grades without picking up a book so imagine what I could've accomplished had I actually put even a little bit of work in.

I wish I had never joined JROTC. Looking back, I could've done PE and gotten in shape to play baseball instead. Also, I regret not going to my senior prom.

I pretty much did what I could in high school as far as student government any other manner of posturing and popularity-winning bullshit was concerned. However, I suppose I regret not taking a clear and open stance against small town shit-kicking sports worship. I wasted valuable time with basketball and track and field. Admittedly, it was fun to be the school mascot my senior year and not really give two shits about losing games. I also horribly regret not being more informed about what to focus on in high school academically to serve me better in a future career. Clearly, that was a high school counseling error. That is such a silly role to have in a public school. Sigh!

There is no way in HELL you will find me at my high school reunion. :rotf I shudder to think of how much they have all reproduced like bacteria, and with whom... :chug

No regrets for me, well since I was bullied every fucken day maybe my only regret was that I wish my parents didn't force me to go to this private school. They wanted me to go there since it was family tradition but rather of got a fresh start somewhere else since all the bullies from Elementary school went to that school to.

Yeah, I was the same man. I always got good grades and never put any effort in. To be honest, I think the school system worked against me in the end. Everything came easy to me up until I was about 16. I was breezing by as others had their hands held through certain exercises or studied hard to keep up. Towards the end of school when the difficulty level suddenly increased sharply, I didn't have it in me to study. I'd never had to before so it was a foreign concept to me.

I was still a B student, but I had been an A student consistently up until that point, so it was still a disappointment to me. I was still getting some of the highest marks in English and History, but my grades dropped in other areas.

I read this as 'booed out of sixth form'. I had the image of you walking into class and being met with Paul Heyman-style heat until you had to leave.

Nah, I think Prophet, being the ultimate pro, would walk in regardless of heat (with black shades) and say: Deal with it. And calmly sit down.
