Really good list. The only thing I will disagree with is your view on Hardy/Punk.

In my opinion, it was one of their best storylines in the last 10 years and the only thing from 2009 I kept up with. It's been a long time so I could be wrong but from what I remember, Hardy never implied that he was proud of the stuff that got him in trouble in the past (not on-screen anyway). Just that he acknowledged he made mistakes and has changed or has made an effort to, but CM Punk was continually trying to put him down because of the fact. The fans can connect with someone who has flaws but is trying to correct them, and not so much so with a character that pretends to be perfect (CM Punk at the time). It didn't help how condescending Punk was towards Hardy.

I was never a fan of Hardy, although TNA booked him well whenever I tuned in which was rare, but he was over as hell.

Congrats Steve, I saw this getting some traction in wrestling circles online earlier but hadn't read it yet.

Also, is it bad that you make a lot of sense and yet I still enjoyed some of the stuff on the list?

Some of the Reddit comments are hilarious, they are not all fans of Steve. My favourite:

Terrible article. It reads like it was written by a teenager, or more likely, a grown man who is so stunted emotionally that he still thinks and behaves like a teenager.

I hope Steve has a thick skin! :P

This kind of article is why I stopped reading cracked. Faux-outrage, misrepresenting what they're writing about and not really knowing what they're writing about in the first place.

I came close to replying to that one. :lol

At the end of the article Steve should of put "If you would like to debate me on this issue please do so on www.squaredcircle.net" Imagine the traffic of bitching. :lol

Lmao it's great to read the thread on Reddit about this while knowing who the author is. Seeing the kinds of conclusions people just because they disagree with some of what the article says, great stuff.

What was Cracked like before and why do people hate it now?

When you put things online for thousands of people to comment on, you develop it pretty quickly. :P You get some of the worst people of all time loitering around internet comments boxes. And it's always the most negative ones that make the most noise. There's always some negative reaction to any article I post, so you don't take it personally after a while.

With that being said, the feedback on this one has been pretty positive. There's been more positive comments than negative by a long way which is nice. I've been out all day and this thread was the first feedback I had really received on the article, so I was worried everyone had shit all over it. :lol But checking around online I'm pretty happy with how it's gone down. Trust you guys to bust my balls about it though. :P

Funnily enough, though it's by far the least views I've had on day one of a Cracked article (about 400,000), which makes sense given it's about a pretty niche subject, I've gotten more direct responses than for any other article I've ever done. More messages about it on Cracked, and feedback on Twitter etc.

KaiserGlider wrote:What was Cracked like before and why do people hate it now?

It's a humour site, but lately it's been doing more and more articles on societal and social issues, along with some articles on personal experience stories. These are still written with a humourous edge for the most part (though I don't think the humour really goes with some of the more serious topics). But the more "political" nature of a lot of the articles these days really rubs some of the old commenters up the wrong way.

None of my articles have really fallen into that category up until now anyway, but I guess some people could perceive this as another case of Cracked trying to be "too politically correct". In reality, it was just me trying to make fun of wrestling. :P

@Hanley I saw you took my advice and promoted on twitter. Rep for you sir. Both for the endorsement and the article.

It was a solid plan. Thinking about it, I probably could have promoted the forum at the bottom of the article. Didn't occur to me at the time though. And I wouldn't have done it without Tim's go ahead.

Great article. And fuck those guys on reddit. You should go on there and tell them you wrote the article and tell them what's what! I doubt they would believe you, but still.

Come on now. Hanley is great and all. But anything? Really?

As for the article, I skimmed it. It's the most I'd do for any clickbait article. Topics were nice. Picture captions were funny.

Woot Woot. Loved it. I read the whole thing in the morning and thought, "I wonder if Hanley wrote this?". I scroll back up and sure enough! My favorite moments on the Cracked app are when I see a new article about Wrasslin'. Out of rep, you get it all later. :clap
