He's been mentioned as one of the better guards in the league over the last few years. Pro Football Focus loves the guy. It'll be interesting to see how much interest he gathers and where he ultimately ends up.

^ I think he wanted more money/contract extension and at 34 Chip didn't think it was wort it I guess. Reports say it was about the $$$.

Everything I heard pointed to money also.

Cutting Mathis goes against LeSean McCoy's "Chip Kelly only gets rid of black players"' nonsense as well.

Last year when Howie was the GM he offered him 1M more a year and he declined. I heard that he wanted to take the 1M more now and the Eagles told him the offer is off the table since Howie is no longer the GM.
